This seems like a perfect fit for what we need.

I'm not an expert but we seem to be missing a scoring guard. This guy is from Tel Aviv. 6'4" 18 year old guard playing in Euroleague. Averaged 18.6 points, 6.7 assists and 5.6 rebounds in AGNT league. Scouts rave about his quickness and ability to hit tough shots.

Maybe Tanner's connections overseas might help us. We definitely have a slot for him to show his stuff.

Agree but are we willing to pay $$ compared to Dook & Auburn who already had meetings with the guy

Just read that. Hoping Tanner will help with players like this in the future.
The front office plan is still being built, having such a late start we had to focus on portal talent and begin making some in roads to HS recruiting. The international aspect will take a while to get in place and begin forming relationships.

Tanner, or one of his reps needs to be at every junior international event from now on,…
That is something I look forward to and that may happen sooner than later. But what you really want is people scouting for us, boots on the ground as they say, forming relationships with coaches having them think of UNC when they have big time players. That is likely to start by picking a country where you want to farm for talent, get the process down there and then replicate it in other countries. Build better branding, form those coaching associations and from there talk to players. That just is going to take a while to start giving results, may be a couple years before we start to see that pay off but at least we are now willing to start the process once we have our front office working strong domestically.

Agree totally. I was at an open gym at the Aust institute of sport in 2005… teenage Pat Mills and Joe Ingles amongst others…. tons of college coaches there… No UNC… theyd called, but didn’t bother to build the relationship. St Mary’s had that relationship and had a pipeline of players… that’s what you’re talking about.

We have ignored the European and international market for way too long...have to get involved ASAP
The international market of players leads me back to a question I have asked several times but never get a clear answer on. I would like a more clear understanding of how NIL works with these international players, non-citizens. Started asking this when we were trying to get Omouri on his visit, we lost him to bama and everyone said bama gave him a huge sack while others said he could not receive NIL because he was not a citizen and here on a student VISA and not an employment VISA, which I assume all non-citizen players are? In order for these guys to get an employment VISA colleges would need to classify players as employees and college do not want to do that?

Another can of worms is this question of colleges declaring players as employees rather than students. Some suggest that in order for there to be some form of salary cap for college players, which at this point I think we all can agree must happen that there must be collective bargaining per federal law. Means players would have to be unionized but my understanding is they must be considered employees to unionize?

There is as well an emerging concern due to governmental positions on immigration from certain countries that could result in players already playing in the US being deported and not allow entry to the USA, political football that seems to cross over to college and pro sports. For example, my dukie buddy is sweating out if Malawach will be able to even be in the United States much less play for either duke or the NBA next season?
