Football is than basketball: in the SEC-ACC challenge, 13 of the SEC teams are favored. Football money, prestige, and power are so much bigger than those from basketball that football powers easily can now buy out most basketball power schools while continuing to spend more on and get more from football.

Yet another CHEAP shot from a football fan jealous of the love and respect given to the basketball program, love and respect that basketball has EARNED, that football simply has not.
Cheap shot or not he is telling the truth…If I told you 10 years ago hey in 2024 the SEC and ACC will have the challenge in basketball and on the 1st night the SEC will go 9-1 with most games being blowouts…You would have said I am crazy…
None of that is going to make me pick the historically mediocre football program over a historically exceptional basketball program. That's what OP is actually butthurt about.

I think he is really taking about the ACC as a whole being more basketball 1st except for Clemson and FSU…And while UNC has been right at 500 or a little above in Football forever except for a few years here and there it’s well known and even AJ who runs this site will tell you UNC has never invested in football like they do in basketball…And now with the money for TV deals all of which is for Football it’s coming back to bite the ACC and especially UNC…
I think they have to get out of the ACC, the big boys and big boy TV money would love to have them, but they are trapped. Without the big time football money, basketball will be at a disadvantage.
I don't dispute this, but it's the source I take issue with.
He was one of those guys from the football forums who had an axe to grind against "basketball onlies", and would frequently come over to THR specifically to shit on Roy or chastise people for not showing the same zeal for football, despite the program never earning it. I think he's just taking another pot shot at UNC Basketball.
I agree with dtodd. It's time to abandon ship. Being a bottom feeder in a Football powerhouse conference will be much more lucrative than remaining top dog in a Basketball conference going down a death spiral.
