Paging @gunslingerdick @prlyles @Hark_The_Sound_2010 @strummingram @BillyL @coolwaterunc @JuleZ '02 HEEL @coryfly and everyone else on here.....

How would y'all feel about trying to organize an OOTB meetup/tailgate for a home game at Kenan this fall? I think it would be a lot of fun, plus y'all would get to meet me -- that alone is worth the price of attendance. @Raising Heel and I have season tickets right next to each other so we'll be at every home game barring unforeseen events and I know some of y'all go to a few games every season. @heelz2345 and @grillheel are also at virtually every home game as well. I also know some of you like Hark live far away and usually just plan on going to one game a year.

I'm just thinking we do a good, ol' fashioned tailgate for a game, rather than trying to coordinate a dinner or anything like that. Personally, I have a permit to tailgate in the Bowles Lot which I love, but it will be near impossible to secure enough permits for all of you to make that work. However, there's a couple lots I can think of where we could all find parking next to one another (Cardinal Deck comes to mind, as does a lot that's off campus), or we could do the Friday Center Park-and-Ride. That's definitely not my cup of tea but it would be a good way to ensure we all end up next to each other. Another option would be to just all meet on Franklin Street and go bar hopping rather than do a traditional tailgate.

Any interest in this? If not, no worries. If so, I think it could be fun. If I'm not mistaken, coryfly has never been to a football game in Chapel Hill (??), so it would be especially cool if we could get him to the Southern Part of Heaven. I figure we can keep revisit this thread closer to football season but it will remain "alive" thanks to the new message board format and the way it archives threads better.

One suggestion I will make, since some of y'all would have to fly in, it may be best to select the James Madison game on September 17th. I know that isn't an exciting opponent but there's a couple advantages to picking that game. Firstly, more than likely the kickoff time for that game will be made public well before the season starts (as opposed to the rest of the schedule that isn't determined until 12 days before). With that information in hand, we'll be able to plan better. Second, since it isn't a big name opponent, tickets will be cheaper for those who don't already have tickets. That being said, I'm open to any home game!

What do y'all think? It would be cool to meet some of you guys in person.

ETA: For convenience, below is the 2016 home schedule:

9/17 James Madison

9/24 Pitt

10/8 Virginia Tech

11/5 Georgia Tech

11/19 Citadel

(Fri.) 11/25 NC State

Definitely sounds interesting. I'd end up just flying in for the whole weekend (have some friends still in the area I'd stay with). So not knowing the time of game isn't as big of a deal for me. GT would probably be my preference, but could definitely be talked into other games instead.

I think it's a great idea. If THN will remember, I tried hooking up with 71, RH and him at last year's duke game but it just didn't work out on account of the bad weather.

But with that said, this fall will be an off year for me coming to CH. As I've stated several times, I go to the duke game every year regardless of whether it's home or away. This year it will be in Durham. Also, the UVa game is in C-ville and I always go to that game when it's here. So that's 2 Heels games I'll be attending. And now my wife has all of a sudden started demanding a trip to Knoxville for a game (we went to the Vandy game back in Nov) now that UT is on the rise.

So that's 3 weekends I'll be making plans. And then throw in my kids' football and soccer games, wrestling meets, etc, taking another Saturday might be tough this coming season.

Y'all make the date and if I can sneak away, I will.

But assuming I do feel like getting out of bed, I'm down. I guess that means I have to actually go somewhere. Ugh. *I was gonna put one of those "sick" emojis here, but since Rivals sucks and no longer has one, I just said F it*

It's tough for me getting to CH since I moved to Florida. I usually get to our games in Atlanta and Miami though, as well as most of our bowl games. I'd like to try to get to at least one game in CH this year. I know my boys, especially my oldest, would love to go. I'm pretty sure I am not going without at least him. I don't think he could be stopped from coming.

Yeah, living in Florida is nice.....until you want to travel to any other state.

And really, why is it that every bad or ridiculous news story starts with, "A Florida man..."
Because almost everything North of Orlando is some form of redneck, ghetto, or white trash?

...And everything South of Orlando is transient yankees?

Yeah, okay you're right, Florida sucks ;)

Bump. Seriously, we should do this. The James Madison game would be best (IMO) since it will be the easiest to secure tickets to (with exception of maybe the Citadel) and will be the easiest to secure a hotel room for, for those who would need one.

Between @Raising Heel and @grillheel / @heelz2345 and myself, that's 4 (?) Bowles Lot parking permits right there. Y'all could easily find a few more on Stubhub which means we could get a legit tailgate going. For those who don't know, the Bowles Lot is the great equalizer that combats the standard view (and correct view, mind you) that Chapel Hill is terrible for tailgating. This is true, save for the Bowles Lot.

Hey jacklegs, y'all want to think about this a little bit? Especially those of you like @Hark_The_Sound_2010 who will have to fly. I'm still down to do this for sure. And I still think the James Madison game is the best one to do it for. Yes, it's gonna be a boring game (hopefully), but it will be sparsely attended, meaning we can easier secure all of the following:

- hotel rooms
- additional Bowles Lot parking permits (if we could get, say 6, that would be enough of a gathering to give room for everyone. As mentioned, we already have 3 between RH, @grillheel, and myself)
- game tickets, obviously, but specifically some of y'all could group up and get tickets together.

EDITED TO ADD: LOL, I basically just said the exact same thing in this post as the post above.
