OOTB Chain Restaurants Tourney: Chase Rice Region, Round of 64

#1 Firehouse Subs vs. #16 Cold Stone Creamery
Who doesn't like ice cream? Maybe people with lactose intolerance. Still, CSC is no match for the delicious steamed subs of Firehouse + Captain Sorensen's Datil Pepper Hot Sauce.

#8 Hooter's vs. #9 Krispy Kreme
Dem titties.

#5 Ruby Tuesday's vs. #12 Ham's
I'm going for Ruby Tuesday's in what some people might consider an upset. Their salad bar was a lifesaver when I traveled for work and just couldn't eat anymore fried shit at the usual fast food staples available in small towns.

#4 Kentucky Fried Chicken vs. #13 McAlister's Deli
KFC made a sandwich using fried chicken breasts as the bread. **** that noise. McAlister's actually has a decent menu of sandwiches plus ginormous potatoes for when you want something different.

#6 McDonald's vs. #11 Panera Bread
McDonald's is nostalgic and all but let's not kid ourselves. Turkey bacon bravo FTW.

#3 Jersey Mike's Subs vs. #14 Little Caesars
LOL sit down little toga dude.

#7 Romano's Macaroni Grill vs. #10 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar
Barf. Not a fan of either of these places, but at least you can taste the food at RMG.

#2 Arby's vs. #15 Boston Market
I freely admit that Arby's is trash but it's my guilty pleasure. Slather up some roast beef with Arby's and horsey (I always feel a little ghey when I ask for this) sauce and I'm good to go. The new buffalo chicken sliders are the bomb, too.

#1 Firehouse Subs vs. #16 Cold Stone Creamery
- Not even a friggin contest. Firehouse is a Power 5 program with a strong resume who also won their conference tourney to claim an auto bid. Cold Stone is from a low-major conference, had a losing season, and just got lucky and went on a run to win their conference tourney to gain tourney entry. Firehouse wins 101-36.

#8 Hooter's vs. #9 Krispy Kreme
- give me wings and boobs over donuts. Donuts are too much of a niche food. Very contrasting styles in this one but Hooter's wins with their diverse scoring.

#5 Ruby Tuesday's vs. #12 Ham's
- Most boring match-up of the region. This is one of the games they stick on TruTV because no one will watch it. Ruby Tuesday's outlasts Ham's.

#4 Kentucky Fried Chicken
vs. #13 McAlister's Deli
- KFC has really upped its program in recent years with additions like the $5 Fill-Up baskets. McAlister's is a nice little mid-major program, but KFC is like Indiana hoops. A tradition of excellence historically and now taking steps to get back to elite level.

#6 McDonald's
vs. #11 Panera Bread
- Panera's squad decided it was too trendy and elitist to even dignify taking the same floor as "corporate bourgeois" McDonald's, so the Golden Arches win via forfeit.

#3 Jersey Mike's Subs
vs. #14 Little Caesars
- Jersey Mike's could make some serious noise in this tournament. Keep an eye on this squad.

#7 Romano's Macaroni Grill vs. #10 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar
- Another of the "no one's gonna watch this one" category.

#2 Arby's vs. #15 Boston Market
- Arby's runs circles around Boston Market, and, hello.. the curly fries.

Me too but it's totally worth it. If we did a sauce bracket, Horsey Sauce would be a 3 seed at worst.

** Reminder: Voting closes tonight at 11:59 p.m. **

We're currently at 12 votes so a tie is possible currently. I haven't run the actual tally yet though.

#1 Firehouse Subs vs. #16 Cold Stone Creamery
- Cold Stone is not a restaurant so Firehouse wins by default

#8 Hooter's vs. #9 Krispy Kreme
- Tough choice for me. Average bar food vs doughnuts made by the hand of God. T&A vs something that is not a traditional type of restaurant. I'm not going against God.

#5 Ruby Tuesday's vs. #12 Ham's
- Didn't realize Ham's still existed. Going with Ruby because it's listed first.

#4 Kentucky Fried Chicken
vs. #13 McAlister's Deli
- Fried Chicken.

#6 McDonald's vs. #11 Panera Bread
- This matchup confuses me. McDonald's doesn't serve food, so not sure why they are in the contest.

#3 Jersey Mike's Subs
vs. #14 Little Caesars
- I can only hope subs shops are the ACC of this tournament and get bounced early otherwise this might as well be a best sub shop tournament.

#7 Romano's Macaroni Grill vs. #10 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar
- This is more of a vote against Romano's because their food sucks. The average, tasteless food at Applebee's is edible.

#2 Arby's vs. #15 Boston Market
- Arby's fries and roast beef is better than overpriced food that isn't as good as what I can get at Publix

#1 Firehouse Subs vs. #16 Cold Stone Creamery
Can't argue with the general consensus here.

#8 Hooter's vs. #9 Krispy Kreme
Gonna throw a vote to Krispy Kreme. People still eat at Hooters?

#5 Ruby Tuesday's vs. #12 Ham's
Nostalgia vote for Ham's even though both of the ones I've ever been to have closed (Greenville and Chapel Hill). Ham's Greenville had the best outdoor area in town, with an indoor/outdoor back bar area with roll-up doors. Spent many a Wednesday night drinking dollar Miller Lites.

#4 Kentucky Fried Chicken vs. #13 McAlister's Deli
Soup in a bread bowl. Huge baked potatoes. Oh, and pretty good sammiches.

#6 McDonald's vs. #11 Panera Bread
Panera is overpriced and underwhelming. McDonald's isn't good or good for you but I don't know anywhere else I can pick up lunch for $3.

#3 Jersey Mike's Subs vs. #14 Little Caesars
D'uh.

#7 Romano's Macaroni Grill vs. #10 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar
This one was a go-to when the parents came to visit in Chapel Hill. Not bad for what it is. Certainly way better than Applebee's.

#2 Arby's vs. #15 Boston Market
Boston Market was one of the limited options I had for my 30-minute breaks from work at Eckerds. Sure wish there'd been something better nearby. Plus, https://twitter.com/nihilist_arbys.

#1 Firehouse Subs vs. #16 Cold Stone Creamery
Only one I've ever been to is in Chapel Hill, but it was pretty good.

#8 Hooter's vs. #9 Krispy Kreme
I like titties - and they should have no problem beating the bastard step-child of the donut world.

#5 Ruby Tuesday's vs. #12 Ham's
I went to one in Chapel Hill when it was still there - not sure if I've ever been to a Ruby Tuesday's

#4 Kentucky Fried Chicken vs. #13 McAlister's Deli
More a vote against KFC than for McAlister's

#6 McDonald's vs. #11 Panera Bread
Similar rationale to the above.

#3 Jersey Mike's Subs vs. #14 Little Caesars
This region opened up nicely for Jersey Mike's. I envision a sub showdown in the regional finals.

#7 Romano's Macaroni Grill vs. #10 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar
Never heard of Romano's Macaroni Grill prior to this tourney, so have to go with Applebee's.

#2 Arby's vs. #15 Boston Market
Just looked up Arby's near me, and to my surprise there actually are a couple in MA. Still - going with the home team.

Haven't yet. I'll give a full report once I do. Was out of town this past weekend - need to find the time to make it over there.

Firehouse - I've never eaten at one but I hear they're good and I'm not a big ice cream guy.

Hooters - I don't give a f*ck about the food. That place is genius and they should be rewarded for being groundbreaking. Plus, Dunkin is better.

Ham's - First of all, I don't do buffets outside of weddings and country clubs and places where I pretty much know everybody. It's gross. You have people like THN11 who were just giving handsies out in the men's room and now they've got those same hands up under that sneeze guard and jostling food around? No thanks. Plus, I have a great memory of Hams. That's where me and my duke buddy watched the double OT duke/Carolina game in '96 (I think). We charged up about a $150 bill with only $20-$30 dollars between the both of us. Thankfully a couple of girls we knew came to the rescue. And after one of the girls paid part of my tab, I took her home and banged her. Was a good night.

McAlister's - I have not and will not eat at a KFC. It is #1 on the list of places that gross me the f*ck out. I don't even consider it real food and I lose respect for people that eat there.

Panera - that place is completely overpriced and the food is average at best. But it's not McDonalds. I don't eat that garbage anymore.

Jersey Mike's - Love it. I eat there frequently. And they're always doing revenue sharing with area nonprofits. They're a good community partner. Plus, I always seem to have one of those BOGO cards. So that's great too. Little Ceasars pizza is not good.

Applebees - only because I've never eaten at that other place.

Boston Market - this was a tough call for me. I like Arby's Marketfresh sandwiches. They're as good as you're gonna get with a fast-food place. But I feel like Boston Market was seeded way too low. They're a 7-9 seed in my book and a very underrated place. The meatloaf sandwich there bangs.

ETA: and KFC and McAlister's are tied.

ETA: ... And Krispy Kreme and Hooters are tied.

ETA: ........ And Hams and Ruby Tuesday's are tied. Seriously y'all.

We have four winners decided with four games going to overtime! Overtime will be broken by next regular OOTB member vote. See below for results:

The Chase Rice Region, Presented by Fireball Cinnamon Whisky

#1 Firehouse Subs vs. #16 Cold Stone Creamery
- Firehouse make quick work of dispatching MEAC conference champ Cold Stone Creamery. Vegas gives Firehouse Subs a 3:1 odds of going all the way.

#8 Hooter's vs. #9 Krispy Kreme -- headed to overtime

#5 Ruby Tuesday's vs. #12 Ham's -- headed to overtime

#4 Kentucky Fried Chicken vs. #13 McAlister's Deli -- headed to overtime

#6 McDonald's vs. #11 Panera Bread -- headed to overtime

#3 Jersey Mike's Subs vs. #14 Little Caesars
- Jersey Mike's Subs just absolutely soul-crushed the guinea Little Caesars squad. LC couldn't exit the arena fast enough en route back to Staten Island. J-Mike's looks strong, even if their players do have some unconventional jersey numbers.

#7 Romano's Macaroni Grill vs. #10 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar
- This one had some late drama as Applebee's went into desperation mode, but Macaroni Grill survived comfortably enough. Can RMG pull the upset over Arby's and make the Sweet 16?

#2 Arby's vs. #15 Boston Market
- Arby's has the meats and Arby's beat its meat against Boston Market. It was a single-digit game at halftime but Arby's pulled away in the second half in a big way and then after the game did NOT pull out of Boston Market's mom.

Yes, the next OOTB regular vote decides it. cc: @nctransplant @UNC71-00 @DeanFor President @strummingram
This is a terrible policy of exclusion. We have women, people of different races and creed, and those with disabilities all fighting for rights most of us take for granted. And here we are, OOTB of all places, singling out poor dookie-ball and telling him/her, "Sorry sir/ma'am (you'll get no gender assumptions from me) but your vote doesn't count here!" Well I'll tell you what, if this doesn't reek I don't know what does. I for one like dookie-ball's style and think his/her vote, if nothing else, means something in this day and age.

Down with exclusion!

I'm giving it until 1:00 p.m. and then I'm breaking the tie. Y'all are welcome to give me suggestions on how to do that. I'd really like to not use an arbitrary tiebreaker though.

lol subtle, 92, very subtle.

Firehouse- Datil pepper sauce clinches it
Hooters- Food is not great, but titties and beer, m-kay. Krispy Kreme is one note.
Ruby Tuesdays-Burgers and the salad bar
KFC- It's fried chicken
Mickey D's- Their fries are still great. And it's Panera. Ewww
Jersey Mikes- Pepper relish is bomb, and this is a blowout win.
Macaroni Grill- Applebees is awful.
Arbys- Horsey Sauce, and They Have The Meats.
