60 teams are gone. Only 4 remain. Our regional champions are all that are left. We are going to be voting for the Drama champion vs. the Miscellaneous champion and the Comedy champion vs. the Animation champion. List both your choices in the matchups. You will have until midnight on Thursday to vote in this thread. I’m going to do a write-up of each matchup in the beginning of the thread including a clip of each show, which will also culminate in my vote for the matchups with a spoiler warning. Lets get to it.
Drama Region Champion: Breaking Bad vs.
Miscellaneous Region Champion: Saturday Night Live
How Breaking Bad got here: Defeated The X-Files, defeated Better Call Saul, defeated Band of Brothers, defeated The Sopranos.
How Saturday Night Live got here: Defeated Who Wants to be a Millionaire, defeated Key & Peele, defeated The Price is Right, defeated Whose Line is it Anyway?
This is a strong matchup, no question. Saturday Night Live has been a staple of television for over 40 years. The Not Ready For Primetime Players have ruled late night comedy for generations, launching countless stars. Everyone has a favorite era of the show and favorite recurring characters. Breaking Bad bested a number of worthy opponents on the way to the Final Four, led by arguably the greatest character in the history of television, Walter White. Breaking Bad is so strong that its spin-off made the field as well (a trait held by our comedy champion as well).
Comedy Region Champion: Cheers vs.
Animation Region Champion: Looney Tunes
How Cheers got here: Defeated The League, defeated The Andy Griffith Show, defeated Seinfeld, defeated The Office.
How Looney Tunes got here: Defeated Tiny Toon Adventures, defeated Rugrats, defeated Family Guy, defeated The Simpsons.
Cheers might have had the deepest roster of any show in the Comedy region, and rode that depth to a Final Four berth, defeating higher seeds like Seinfeld and the Office to do so. Looney Tunes has a wealth of beloved characters and didn’t really have a close matchup until facing off against the citizens of Springfield. How will Bugs and company fare in their first matchup with a live action opponent? Will this be last call for Cheers?

While I have loved SNL for a long time, and it certainly has the history deserving to advance, I can’t bet against Heisenberg. Breaking Bad has my vote here.
