Two rounds have been completed, and a tournament that began with 64 teams has been whittled down to the Sweet 16! We are going to be voting for all four regions from here on out. List all your choices in the matchups, so for this round, you need to pick your favorite in both of the matchups of the region. You will have until midnight on Wednesday to vote in all four threads. I’m going to do a write-up of each matchup in the beginning of each thread including a clip of each show, which will also culminate in my vote for the matchups with a spoiler warning. Lets get to it.
#1 seed Seinfeld vs.
#4 seed Cheers
Here’s a little known fact (I’m going full Cliff Clavin right now), but the show Cheers exists as a television show on the show Seinfeld. The Seinfeld characters meet George Wendt backstage at The Tonight Show, where George Costanza talks to him about the show Cheers. However, there is an episode of Cheers that features Michael Richards (the actor who played Kramer) as a patron who wins the bar in a bet with Sam. So does that mean that in the Seinfeld universe, when they see that episode of Cheers, it’s just the one that Kramer is on, and they accept it? After all, he was on Murphy Brown; it stands to reason that he could be on Cheers as well. Anyway, just some random trivia for you.
#2 seed Friends vs.
#3 seed The Office
In our other matchup of NBC favorites, we see the Central Perk gang facing off against the employees of Dunder Mifflin. Both are ensemble heavy shows, but The Office has a strong usage rate in the front man, Steve Carell. Both featured some of the most memorable “will they, won’t they” relationships in television history in Ross & Rachel and Jim & Pam. Both have laugh out loud moments, both have dumb guy catchphrases (“How you doin’?” vs. “That’s what she said”), and both make strong cases to move on.

I’m giving my vote to The Office.
