OOTB's Political Thread . ..

just because you and your ilk created mass hysteria over little doesn't mean that the more level-headed don't want to distance themselves from such childishness rather than mindlessly get sucked into it.

When you simply step back and truly see what Trump was running against, it shouldn't be inconceivable to anyone that even (fill in the blank___________) might get elected against her. I know I would have inked him or her or what in. The inconceivable thing to me is that the dem waste product got as much support as she did. The sheep keep sheepin' though..
Right! These morons keep focusing on a 3 hour period on 1/6/21 and acting like that alone should have determined future elections. It was a bad scene, for sure, but it was a blip on the radar for most people.

They vandalized, desecrated, and defecated in the US Capitol. That's just the property damage.

You piss your pants when a football player kneels for the national anthem, but it's actually commendable when a thousand MAGA rednecks try and destroy the US Capitol. A lot can happen in 3 hours. A lot DID happen in 3 hours.

I kinda feel Americans deserve what's coming to them, for letting Trump win, but then I see it was less 50% asking for him, so kinda feel bad for the majority. But not really.
Is it less than 50%? The AP still shows Trump getting 50% of the vote. Maybe if you take it out to the fifth decimal place or something it's a tick below, who knows. Regardless, given that 0.5% of the vote went to RFKjr, I think we can safely say the majority is supportive of this administration.

And really, while some believe they aren't "contributing to the problem" by voting for a non Trump/Harris candidate, really what they're doing is implicitly giving their support for whichever of those two win by not making any attempt to vote for a viable candidate against them.

True, but even those who did vote for Harris implicitly agree to accept the winner, whether they are happy about it or not. That's how democracy works.

Different rules for some who voted for Trump, of course.

The presidential winner never gets a majority. Simply because not all eligible voters bother to vote (or are allowed to vote, as the case may be).

There are something like 245 million eligible voters in the US.

Roughly 150 million voted this election.

Trump got nearly 77 million.

Doing the math . . . Trump received the votes of 31.4% of eligible voters. Meaning around 68.6% of voters did NOT give their approval to Trump.

The final # will be tween 49 and <50. It's super close to half but just under.

But yeah, you can just as easily say > 50 said hell naw to Harris. And I hope 3rd party voters like @tarheel0910 get accidentally deported (cuz big gov sometimes screws up).

NOBODY SAID IT WAS COMMENDABLE, you fvcking mindless twit. It's only been said that relatively, it was not nearly as big a deal as the usual dimwits make it out to be.. As I've pointed out before, there is a minestrone soup of misguided notions swashing around in your otherwise empty skull, and this is just one of many. You have to first demonize what you want to preach about, and you never let the truth get in the way of an opportunity to demonize whatever it is you want to virtue-signal about. The worthlessness of your virtue-signaling is beyond expressing.

Wonderful... and how big is that deal, exactly? Be more vague, if that's possible.

If you wouldn't bend yourself into knots, endlessly defending the obvious harmful, disrespectful behavior, then virtue signaling would never be needed. But, you have to defend them because of the "sides" institution that you've chained yourself to, for perpetuity. When you make that choice, you inevitably have to defend the really shitty, blatantly-screamingly-obvious shitty behavior. It's become such a habit that you have to invent a term like "virtue signal" to ease what's left of your conscience when confronted about it.

amen and amen. I've been preaching that to a certain almost apolitical, third-party voting guy here for quite some time. They tell themselves that they are 'making a statement', as if anyone gives a shit about their statements. Vote in a way that would matter if that vote was the deciding vote between viable candidates.

That being said though, I don't regret voting for Ross Perot. What we should have is a ranked voting system such that the election being shy of a majority winner, your vote goes to a second that you favor.

for God's sake, enough of the whining and more than enough hypocritical preaching about 'how democracy works' from your end of things. Without delving into the many other reasons why it's hypocritical, democracy works by staging elections that are above question. If they are not above question, democracy encourages the questioning...as many dems have done in the not so distant past. The interwebs can show you a ton of examples. Trump went too far but the validity of his quest is characteristic of 'how democracy works'.

lol, you are a single-minded idiot. I'm not defending it, you fruitcake. YOU are the one inventing what does not exist and never has existed just so you can jump on your miserable little soapbox. You and your ilk fluff it up to be the most horrendous occurrence in American history, when it is relatively speaking a mere candle compared to even the bonfire of the antifa/blm riots, let alone a whole slew of much more impactful happenings. which you always fail to mention, or respond to when they are brought up. I guess the inescapable conclusion is that you support the destruction and injury and actual death that resulted with those incidents. Fool. LMAO at your pretzel logic..

'WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING THE JAN 6 INSURRECTION THAT NEARLY WIPED AMERICA OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH?', sobbed @strummingram. 'AEEEEIIIIIIAHEE!' he added, being at a loss for anything more sensible to opine.

Now, you're embellishing what I said in order to keep defending it. You compulsively defend it. I get that you don't like someone you've never met because what they say on here makes you so emotional (and you are the MOST emotional).

It was a "bad scene, for sure." I agree with that.

do you mean the deal that it actually was or the deal that you and your ilk make it out to be? Sorry, I'm happy to answer but your question is a little vague.

I've never known anybody use so many words to not say a damn thing, as you do.
