OOTB's Political Thread . ..

What he actually did is even worse than people are hearing about. The pardon is NOT just for his two existing court cases with convictions. It covers the entire period of Jan 2014 until Jan 2024 for the existing cases and ANY OTHER POTENTIAL charges. Thus, anything else that finally comes out as to the money laundering and other stuff is done as well.

That is huge. We know that there is more lurking.
Well let’s not get too holier than thou. Your idol handed out pardons to criminal family members and allies like candy at Christmas and anyone with a hint of intelligence knows 1000% certain he will again. Biden is no better. But if you’re trying to claim this is somehow worse than trump or previous presidents I’m just gonna laugh.

Well, the devil is always in the details isn't it? I'm not claiming anything, nor could I, as I don't know what those "pardons to criminal family members and allies" actually said. All I'm pointing out is the very, very, very broad nature of the language used by Joe for Hunter. This pretty much confirms that there is a boatload more of shit that Hunter did that hasn't seen the light of day. That should be the real story here.

If you are saying that Trump actually did that as well, fine, but I'm not playing the who is the same, worse or better game. Incidentally, are you of the frame of mind that the collective yawn and reaction to this would be the same if we see Trump doing this for Eric and/or Don, Jr. in exactly four years? I think the meltdown would be worse than Chernobyl.

And I should add that on a personal level, I've got no problem with it. I think Joe would get a lot more mileage and sympathy on this if he'd just come out and say, "Look, he's my son. Any parent should understand how much I love him and only want the best for him. He may have done some things wrong, but I have the power to put that behind him. It's been forgiven and we are all moving on. This is the last comment I will make on the topic. Thank you."

Most would completely understand such a position. What wouldn't you do for your kids given the ability?

I’ll let you research who he pardoned and let you draw your own conclusions. But imo it’s wrong for the president to have that power. I don’t know the history of why they do or what it was intended for but I can’t help but think it wasn’t for the power to be used like it is.

Pardoning is in the Constitution, so you'd have to dig through the Federalist Papers and the like to get a sense of it all. Guessing it came from the King/Queen having the ability to exercise their mercy. I'm also guessing that the biggest fight was over the limits or broadness. It is one of those things that is probably necessary in the end. I mean, Ford probably shouldn't have pardoned Nixon and it ruined him politically, but in the end, would it have helped our nation to drag Tricky Dick through the mud any worse than what happened? We'll never know. Incidentally, I seem to remember reading somewhere that Obama set the record for pardons.

There's a ton of crickets around here. Where are all the "No one is above the law" types now that there are no election efforts happening and the truth is again slowly emerging after the fact? How can this type of thing not allow them to admit or at least reconsider the manipulation of the system to simply get Joe re-elected/bury orange hitler? It's not like the media was in the bag on all this or anything.

Dims are liars and hypocrites above all else. That never changes. Broadest pardon since Ford pardoned Nixon. Biden will eventually pardon his other family members too.

The claim that “no man is above the law” is a joke. These pardons literally show that a president is indeed above the law. I’ve never liked them. Biden’s parting shot is to prove he’s no better than trump in that regard.
but we knew that already, no extra proof needed. SOME of us knew that already. The president's ability to pardon at will has been routinely abused, but this far-reaching pardon should alert even the most oblivious that there is more to this act than just negating the tax and gun convictions of Hunter. There is nothing in Denmark more rotten than there is with Joe Biden and his clan. It sickens that Trump could be so thoroughly persecuted while the real cocksucker slimes away unscathed. .

one can only hope that the reason we hear nothing but crickets is because those we normally contend with here have the common decency to be too embarrassed to show their faces(?). Or even to admit to being a democrat.

I had to laugh cynically when I read that Biden said that the reason for the pardon was because Hunter's convictions came about only as a political attempt to disrupt Biden's re-election campaign. Imagine the gonads it takes to spout that level of hypocrisy, especially when the pardon covers, as you point out, anything from jaywalking to axe murder in the ridiculous range of time given.

I can't help myself. I know this is in bad taste, but I can't help saying I told you so. I tried to convey long before he was elected what a POS politician he has always been.

yep. Reference the video of Hillary I posted. They don't care about the country, they care about staying in power. Their policies don't matter, the sheep will keep supporting the given shepherd regardless.

Ford pardoning Nixon was nowhere near the egregiously self-serving abuse of the power to pardon that this is. That power needs to be greatly reined in. Too bad that can't happen before what you suggest takes place, and I agree that there is a distinct possibility of it happening.

No it doesn't.

What it confirms is what we already know - because Trumps said he would pursue more charges against Hunter and the whole Biden family.

Yes, the guy who complained about so-called lawfare has promised to engage in it.

Biden should probably preemptively pardon a bunch of people. The problem with that, of course, is it makes people look guilty.

sometimes better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open the piehole and remove all doubt.

More charges needed to be pursued simply because the Biden clan was engaging in activities possibly harmful to our country. You nailed it though. Such preemptive pardons do make the pardoned look guilty. Or in this case, serve to verify guilt. Biden claims the convictions were politically motivated to disrupt his campaign for re-election. OK then, why go so far-reaching with the pardon to cover times and crimes not yet charged that could have no effect on that now non-existent campaign?

Are you just a hard core apologist or are you actually this gullible?

The second you mention Jane Fonda my impartiality leaves the building. I despise that woman. She should have been stripped of her rights as an American citizen when she climbed her entitled butt up on that AA piece and gave her little speech, IMO. She can kiss my ass.

I might find it worth conversing with you on the issues if you forewent the need to begin and end your comments with personal attacks.

I have a tough skin, so no harm done, but why would I bother to try to reason with someone who acts like that?

It's not about Jane Fonda.
