even considering comedic license with the exaggeration required for comedic effect, this is not all completely untrue; but what Maher is not acknowledging in answer to the actual premise of this bit, is that what he is critical of on the left is not the same as what he is criticizing on the right.
In making fun of leftist wokeness, he is pointing out what the dem party has become and IS. In his poking fun at the republicans, he is pointing out a temporary condition exhibited by
some republicans. Is he forgetting the term RINO? That term indicates the fact that many republicans part ways with current republican politics. Has he not heard the term anti-Trumper? That's a term that highlights the many who automatically oppose Trump, and that includes a great many republicans. And it includes Maher, whatever he actually is.
There IS good independence of thought on the right, although like me, many are waiting for things to settle in before becoming critical of a presidency in its infancy. That's called reason, not subservience. On the other hand, dems are truly like a huge flock of sheep. The last presidency demonstrates this in spades. They supported all of Biden's ineptitude, they supported all the crazy woke and ultra-liberal stupidity, and like a huge flock of sheep they will support whatever the dem party represents at the time; and at any particular time, one can not rule out any degree of craziness being espoused by them.
In terms of popular vote, they didn't miss by much installing that dimwitted gasbag Kamala Harris as our president, and that wasn't because of the virtues she extolled. It was simply because she is a democrat. Biden lost support only because he spaced out in a televised debate., and made himself unelectable.
I have pointed out Maher's political di-morphism many times here. In this diatribe, he is displaying nothing more than a really bad case of TDS. He should stop being a hypocrite and just admit that the party he ostensibly supports is just full of shit. And bad juju. REALLY bad juju.
The fact is that taken in overall context, and as I have pointed out, what Maher has been exhibiting for quite a while is a contempt for dem values and an agreement with republican ones. But like a good dem sheep, he can't bring himself to fully betray the side he has chosen to wave the banner of.
