Getting into the home stretch.

This week opens Friday night with Cal in dead last place in the ACC at 0-4. The four losses are by a combined total of 9 points. Cal is then 4-0 in OOC play, including a 44-7 total beat down of former Pac rival Oregon St. If the Pac still existed, Cal would be among the top half of that league hands down.

Cal goes to Wake which is also 4-4 but is 2-2 in the ACC. This game is very important for both programs as they angle for bowl eligibility and then for Spring and then 2025.

On Saturday, we have 6-2 (3-2) Syracuse at 4-4 (1-3) BC. The Orange are bowl eligible but want more than the lowest tier bowl. The Eagles do not want Avery promising start to the season to end run no blow or even the worst bowl possible.

9-0 (5-0) Miami plasy at Bobby Dodd. The Yellow Jackets like BC have seen a very promising start begin to fizzle and now are 5-4 (3-3). If Haynes King can play at full health, GT could pull the upset.

Then we have one of those Can Space Aliens Just Capture Both of Them contests. 6-3 (2-3) Dook hops over to Carter-Finley to rub elbows with the 5-4 (2-3) Fightin Wufs.

6-2 (5-1) Clemson tries to regroup in Blacksburg vs. 5-4 (3-2) VT. The loser will feel his season officially ruined.

1-8 (1-7) FSU gets the big game on NBC vs the 7-1 Irish who still expect to make the playoff.

7-1 (3-1) Pitt hosts 4-4 (2-3) UVA. Pitt still has an outside shot at the playoffs, so this game is huge for the Panthers.

Only time I ever pull for dook is when they play west Raleigh in football….

Only time I pull for west Raleigh is when they play dook in basketball…

Anyone else do this…

Because in this er Moo is usually better at football with Dook better at basketball. Makes sense. Back when the ACC was founded, it was the opposite.

I śaw little of the 1st Half of Cal at Wake because of watching UNC choke to KU in Hoops. Choke is wrong because Self is just better than Davis.

Anyway, what I saw was another fun to watch ACC game. Cal finally git its 1st ACC win, and Wake put up a great fight. Wake now probably must beat UNC to go bowling.

Of course Self is better than Coach Davis right now…Nothing about last night was choke for UNC on the road at the #1 ranked team in the country…

Someone needs to tell the equipment manager at dook to learn how to spell it their helmets say duke and that’s not right

BC running game just controlled the game vs. Cuse. BC QB Costellanos was ineffective and then injured, and it did nit matter as Eages win.

when i watch games like bama/lsu i just don’t get it…they’re just different…even ole miss and tenn have those dudes.

i know a lot of it is strength and conditioning, but those guys already look the part…what i don’t get is those schools are in on carolina commits as well…is it just about coaching?

strength and conditioning is not something you should have to worry about as far as pay…its a million dollar a yr job and carolina pays $500,000 or so…who the fuk wouldn’t pay a million dollars to have the best conditioned athletes in college?…it cannot be the only difference, but it certainly looks like it on tape.

During one of the recent games they mentioned that the strength program focuses more on high rep stuff. That's fine for skills guys but it's insane not to have the big guys building raw power by going heavy in the 3-5 rep range. Some of the modern strength training stuff is cool but I guarantee you that the big time SEC schools are still prioritizing heavy compound lifts.

Also... this probably won't be a popular talking point but I think PED usage in college football is way more prevalent than the average fan realizes.

It is far worse than almost anyone wants to acknowledge even possible. Simply, all those naturally huge fat guys can play OL and DL only because of PEDs. That short term converts some fat into fake muscle and provides more stamina. But they still often turn out to be slow acting and easily outmaneuvered.

With PEDS you can take a 220 pound LB and make him 260 pound DE/Edge Rusher who not only added weight nd strength but also a quick step. But he also will tend to lack stamina and need a good deal of rest to be at his most explosive when he is playing. .
