Panthers, Cam, tiegate!!!!!!

For me it's simple, I don't want you to act a certain way because the general public labels QB's this way so act accordingly. Just be yourself. That's exactly what he does, and I respect that about him. I've never been an interview or press conference guy anyway because I know 95% of what they say is BS for the camera, so I don't care. I think that's why I respect Cam. He doesn't fit that mold.
I respect individuality too but there's a place for it. You can't just say "well....the way things are done is dumb!!" That doesn't get you anywhere. Unfortunately there are just certain settings and situations in life where you have to conform to the norm. Doesn't matter if it irritates you or not, you just gotta do it. Cam needs to learn that.

Tiger Woods is a great example. When he plays he lets his personality shine through. He pumps his fist violently in celebration. He cusses. He nonchalantly picks his tee up when the drive is good. Some of these things piss people off -- especially the cussing -- and are sorta departures from the norm, BUT...he still conforms to the integrity of the game. He dresses appropriately, he gives calm interviews whether he had a great round or terrible round, and he's overall still professional when on the course. You can absolutely be yourself and still be professional.

I get the analogy, and I understand completely with this vantage point. FWIW, in my position now, I won't even walk outside the house unless I'm dressed, at minimum, in a way I would be comfortable dressing at work...because you just never know who you will run into. If you dress appropriately, no one will notice...but if you don't, everyone will notice AND remember it. I completely get it -- it's an image thing, it's how you carry yourself, and as a leader, you're held to a higher standard.

Take that mentality and sit it up on the shelf for a minute.

Specifically for this conversation -- I personally want a QB to absolutely despise "losing" to his core, in his soul... I don't want a QB that as soon as the game is over, is smiling, high-fiving the other team, chummy with the media, giving the "Aw shucks, we'll get 'em next time, guys" routine. That just bleeds "this is a business," to me. Spare me the BS (as a fan). I respect the QB who is not PC and you can see how much losing hurts. I actually think that is just as strong for camaraderie as the "Peyton Manning" route. The QB is often the highest paid player on the team -- if you're an underpaid Offensive Lineman, IMO, you WANT to see that your high-paid QB is someone you would go to fight tooth and nail for.

Again, I see both sides here -- I just side with the "less fake" one, personally, with regards to football.

You can hate losing and still be professional and act like an adult when you do lose!

Hating losing is not an excuse to be a baby!

He is the true definition of an adult baby!

Most adults like to see their teams and their players win and lose with class!

I don't care if I'm a homer here. Cam is polarizing and people either love him or hate him, and there's no changing anyone's mind on that. Those who have a problem with him...will always have a problem with him.

Not true I loved him and defended him unconditionally UNTILL the superbowl and not trying to cover the fumble and then the post game!

Not true for me as well. Initially I didn't like him and was pretty bothered when the Panthers drafted him. Eventually I warmed up to him and genuinely began to like the guy. Now I'm wishing they would just trade him. Who knows, this time next year I could be infatuated all over again.

you guys have seen his gear post-game...you really can't wear a tie with any of it...i think there's more to it, strip club rumor maybe??

also, it does send a message that not even the mvp can deviate from a schedule or a rule...problem is, it should've been done in week six.
