We've tried him. He's not good at it. There's a reason he has basically only played it at the end of blowouts. He doesn't dribble well against defensive pressure. He doesn't make good outlet passes. He doesn't see the floor the well. He ignores open players in both the halfcourt and on fast breaks. He doesn't run the offense well or generate easy opportunities for his teammates.Something that has baffled me since the moment he stepped foot on campus. Why have we never tried Seth at the PG. He came in as a pg, he deserves a shot
I strongly disagree, if anything Seth is greatly under valued unless your gauge of a player is limited to how many points he scores. I see him as a better version of Kenny Williams and I always felt Kenny was a really good player for us.guys, as bad as we are, we have to stop trying to make or portray players to be better than they are. Seth is a good athlete, which makes him a good defender. Outside of that, he's average at best in terms of UNC talent level traditionally. He's not a PG, he's not a SG. He's too small to be anything outside of those 2, and arguably, when looking at both, he's below average in the most important attribute we look for in those positions. He's a below average ball handler (PG), and a below average shooter (SG).
Given the fact that a blind man can see our rotations are garbage. I don’t give any credit to the coaching staff we currently have on retainer. You described Rj Davis career when he’s playing pg. I don’t know when we ever tried him there. He didn’t get time with Caleb and Rj, or Ec and Rj. So please tell me when we tried it?We've tried him. He's not good at it. For whatever reason, some of our fans forget that we have 6 coaches that watch these players every day in practice. This reminds me of the "why isn't James Brown playing more" questions. If Trimble was a viable option at point guard, he'd be playing more at that role. Just because a couple recruiting analysts labeled him a PG, that doesn't mean he is one. You may notice Rivals listed him as a SG.
Just this season Trimble has played point guard when Davis was hurt with his back injury, in games when both Cadeau and Davis were in foul trouble, and at the end of blowouts.Given the fact that a blind man can see our rotations are garbage. Agreed, I think he is a good 6th man athlete/dee type. A pretty dang good fit for a team like Houston. For UNC and it's roster, he's not a good 2 guard option, and a bad PG option anywhere.Seth isn't a PG. I argue he's had the improved season in part because he hasn't had to play PG this season. He's a wing and a good one at that. But I also think he's realistically a 4th if not 5th option on a Final Four caliber team. I think of him more as a modern day D-stopper where he can still do a few things well enough to contribute offensively.
