Rice noodles cooked in a huge pot. Broth is amazing. Usually cooked w ox tail (MY FAVORITE) and any other beef bones and all sorts of herbs and spices. There's chicken.. meatballs.. steak .. garnished w scallions ..cilantro.. Thai basi.. lettuce tomato ..limes ...chili sauce .. and Thai peppers!!! I dip my Thai peppers in salt to bring the heat down a notch.

My girls family usually pays to kill a 'fresh cow' and uses the bones to marinate the broth.

That looks like a Korean dish I had at a Korean restaurant one time. Whatever it was they didn't call it ramen. It was very good but pho would still win out in my book.
Well you haven't had real ramen so how can you definitively say pho is better?
The pictures you shared of "real ramen'. I said I've had something that looked just like it at a Korean restaurant. I said what I had wasn't as good as pho.
If what I had wasn't "real ramen" then I've never definitively said pho was better than "real ramen" now have I??

Where do you live? Ramen is a Japanese dish, so you might have had some soup at a Korean spot, but it wasn't ramen.
Lol. Yea I've got that. It was a soup w a boiled egg. I live in the triad of NC. Several Japanese spots around, although I usually only go for sushi.
There's a place in Charlotte (South End) that serves some killer Ramen, and it's to die for. I want to shower in the stuff, it's so freaking delicious. The co-workers and I were wanting something for lunch one day; a few of them suggested that place, and I immediately shot them down thinking I was gonna get some college meal or something. I ended up going, and I'm glad I did. That crap is legit.
I just did a cursory search in Greensboro and W-S and it looks like you might be SOL in finding good Ramen. Honestly, I live in the dc metro area and there are a handful of places that do it. NYC has the best ramen in the country.
Would love to make it back to NYC. Went in 06 for a 3 day trip and had a blast. When in Rome I shall do as the Romans do.
Futo Buta or some shit. Basically, just Google "Charlotte Ramen" and it's the first place that pops up.
