...declaring/available/graduating considered draftable (with several projected 1st round)

Lessee, at latest tally off the top:
Ball
Fulz (not really a college PG but projects there as a pro)
DSJr
Ntilikina (foreign)
Mason
Trimble
Evans (OkSt)
Sumner (Xavier)
Koennig
Morris (IowaSt)
Edit: forgot to include XRM (F$U)

Also considered likely to leave:
Simmons (AZ) although he probably shouldn't, he came in wanting to be OAD

Just a wishful rumination hoping, win or lose, JB decides to wait another year... ;)

I don't get it, where is JB going? No one has him in their mock drafts. He's going to leave school a year early to not get drafted and fizzle out in the D league? Doesn't make much sense to me or to the kind of kid JB is.

Well, if he goes he'll likely get drafted... just won't be where he wants it to be. Staying and improving his draft position, not to mention being a pre-season AA, would seem to make sense.
Also, one of he reasons he's not in most mocks now is that there have been signals he isn't planning on leaving. Let us hope they are accurate...

I sure can see him going to "test the waters" as they say, an eye opener for most kids. Gives them a bunch of information and ideas for what to work on in their game.

I really hope JB comes back for our team, but in the end it is about him and his family!

Question: Which one would you want-Fultz or Ball to run your team? (DSJr?)

Yeah Simmons making a huge mistake

Fulz isn't a natural Point --- didn't really play it in college --- just one of those guys projected there at the next level. Personally, I'm always suspicious of that, but I suppose it depends on your system. Ball is easily a better natural Point, but I don't know I would draft him knowing his dad came with the package. With Fulz you get a tremendous basketball talent you're hoping can transition to your PG.

It's the way the AAU works. Some ultra athletic guys that would have been SGs 20 years ago are given the ball all the time and told to attack. They aren't traditional PGs but they call themselves PGs because they have the ball. Hence the dominance of the "scoring PG" which is creeping all the way up to the pro levels.

You don't need to make Fulz a PG in today's NBA. Especially with the current trend being scoring PGs.

Exactly, not to many Pure PGs in the nba league. I can think of 5 that are currently the starters for a team.

Well, that's just it. The scoring PG trend is why he was tabbed early on as a future NBA PG. Personally, I'm all for the scoring but I prefer the traditional instincts be there.

I think he comes back no matter what. Was talking with another devout UNC fan yesterday, he made a very good point:

With an uber-athletic prospect, they can come out as early as possible because NBA teams will draft them high based on potential. But when you're on the less athletic end of the scale (relative to NBA players), you ought to be as polished as possible. They don't draft the less athletic players and give them tons of chances to improve. Those guys need to have all of the skills necessary to be a reserve player right away, or they need to hone them in the D-League and then give it another try.

Point is Joel is too small to play off-guard at 6 feet, but not that quick for an NBA point guard and still not an NBA level passer (similar to Marcus Paige in a lot of ways). He needs to further develop the secondary skills as much as possible so that an NBA team sees him as a potential backup PG, because he's not the type of athlete that teams will give lots of development time to.

I think that's why you always see lots of polished upperclassmen drafted in the 2nd round. It's the guys who have hit all the points necessary to be a good role player. That's where Joel can be, but I don't think he's there yet.

I hope we get to see how a championship effects his decision-making though! :)

Yeah, I'm a little traditional too. I prefer the pass first, score when the team needs it type PGs. I think Ball is a better pure (old school) PG <Chris Paul>, but his baggage weighs about 295! Fultz seems to be the ultra-athlete scorer or Lead Guard type <Russel Westbrook>. Neither seems to have the size/strength to play 2G in the pros to me.
