Hello my dear friends, My wife has ask me to research a good point and shoot camera to take along with our DSLR on trips. It would be great if you guys would do the work for me, of course I would reward you with a bunch of "Likes". Thanks in advance.

How much you want to spend? It's kinda like NASCAR you know. The more you can spend the better off you are.

Cannon-Nikon have some GREAT cameras or you can opt for for some cheaper stuff. I've got a Kodak that does great for everyday use but when I get serious I grab the Cannon Rebel.

Come on guys. Surely Billy is not the only one of you who will whore out their time and effort for a few likes...

300 to 500 range.

But seriously, if already have a DSLR and you're going to spend that much, you can get a smartphone that will take just as good, possibly better snapshots - and serve as a phone, upload your pics to the web, etc. (You say you don't carry a cell phone, but having one for emergencies could be valuable on a trip. You can make emergency calls even without a data plan, and use wifi for uploading.)

My wife has a smartphone. She wants something small that will take better pictures than a smartphone.

A few years ago I bought a Nikon Coolpix AW130 to play around with. I especially like the built-in WiFi and GPS and the fact it is waterproof down to a depth of 100 feet. It's great for taking on vacation to the beach or the tropics, or even for the backyard swimming pool. On land it takes excellent photos and is shockproof in case you drop it on the pavement.

With tax it's around $300. Great little camera.
