Portal Point Guards

Who do you like better? The GT point guard or the Pitt point guard?
Scoring point Pitt, more rounded skills GT. If we have scorers, get yours when opened to create situations, give me GT, we do not at this point. Solid, but not really consistent scorers, that get a bucket guy, Pitt guy.

A couple others I'm watching, gonna be a couple more I think that may enter.

Both guys are meh, but I would take the kid from GT.
I wish we could somehow poach Bruce Thornton from Ohio State.

Withers played the best basketball of his career at the end of this season.

Cadeau was hitting 3s and committing less turnovers at the end of the season.

Heck, Cade Tyson had one or two decent games at the end of the season.

RJ Davis spent the whole season in a shooting slump, but started shooting and playing much better at the end of the season.
I think most of the end of season progression was due to playing a lot of bad teams.

But socrates asks whose bias do you choose.

Mr. Jones has a piece on Naithan George from GT. He has shown improvement from year one through year two. Not impressive against better completion for most of the season but was impressive in some games towards the end. Maybe there is potential there, especially if you have no pg?

Does anyone know if we tried to get involved with Josh Dix? I was hoping he would be a the top of our list. 6-5 42% shooter from 3. 3 assist to turnover. 76% free throw. Shared defensive player of the year on Iowa's team 2 years ago

Going to Creighton.

Seemed perfect for our needs.

Yea still a head scratcher, to Creighton?

All the players I've mentioned in this thread and posted videos of are gone, I think. Several I was told aren't really PGs. Several were dismissed as too short. The rest weren't good enough. Except Dent, who apparently wasn't interested in us.

I sure hope some more top PGs enter the portal.

Or are we going with what we have? Seth and the freshmen.

Come on, y'all. This whole "small PG" thing is a red herring from hell. Look around. Things haven't changed because of a small sample-space.

The idea that Ray, Ty or Joel couldn't be just as impactful today is absurd.

Moreover, our size at PG was NOT a problem --- having a small 2 with some defensive issues was, however --- especially when our coach refused to utilize our quickness to scramble
I realize he's only 6ft. I'm surprised nobody is talking about Nigel Pack. We've seen his handle and he can light it up from deep. 🤔🤔🏀 Thoughts.....
Yeah when they say “he’s 6ft” he’s really 5’8 or 5’9.

Unless he’s willing to come off the bench we need big guards 6’3 or taller.

He said he's gonna visit dook
Not sure what his thought process is but if he’s transferring one year away from a degree at Princeton, maybe another elite academic institution is in play. Somewhere like Duke, Northwestern, or Stanford.

Hope he’s making the right decision. Walking away from a Princeton degree is a ballsy choice.

To be fair... are you giving the keys to a kid no one has ever heard of based on favorable height at the position and stats for a team in a weak conference?

Id rather a kid with 2-3 years proven experience at a strong conference.

No. But I’m giving him the keys because he’s Korean.

The smoke around Lowe seems to be building. He is a scoring threat, as we saw when we played to Pitt.
@dtodd4475 who does Lowe remind you of?
I am trying to wrap my head around why his shooting percentage from the field is so poor and his ft percentage is higher than RJ Davis, which is the highest in Carolina history

I watched Lowes 2024-25 highlights and of course he made all his shots in the video 😉
What stood out for me though, were all the tough shots he made in the video.
That tells me his shot selection was really poor, if those were the shots he was actually making.
Maybe there is something there if his shot selection is cleaned up. He has the talent to be a dynamic player.
