Very pleased to see the positive comments from Knox. He's the only SF we've offered, so far.
With Justin almost certain to leave, we need another SF. Sure, Theo is very likely to step into the starting role as senior, but he has yet to gell. He could either be so good that he goes pro, or so erratic that we'll need to look for someone else to start at SF. We are all rooting for him, but who knows?
Which is to say that Knox may want to wait to see how Theo develops. If Theo either blows up and leaves or doesn't develop strongly, I could see Knox giving us a serious look.
Exactly. I'm withholding my happiness at this positive news until I hear from them.Yes, we should allow the dukies to fact check this before we get to excited...
We'll see. Seems short and waaay too scrawny, but those things can change from frosh to soph seasons.I think BRob can play SF.
Rush came in as a walk on, but that might change. What's the read on Shea Rush? Is he on scholarship? Will he be good enough as a soph to fill in at SF if we need him to? That could reduce or eliminate the need for a new guy.
Probably not next year but eventually.I don't think Rush will be put on scholarship..
Unless something unusual happens, there will only be 10 minutes per game to back up Justin at SF this year. If Theo wants starter minutes, he has to get them at another position - presumably SG. It helps that Roy's wings have often been fairly interchangeable in the past.I think Theo is a natural SF and will excel there. I think that's Shea's position as well.
I think it actually helps round out his game. And I think he'll play some PF when we go small, just as he did last year. Brice/Tony, Theo, JJ, Kenny/BRob, Joel can be a very effective lineup again for us this year, IMO.

Either Theo or BRob might become a great SF. But the odds are against both of them getting there. So I want a good SF in the 2017 class if we can get one. If things go well for us, he'll learn as a backup during his frosh year. But if things don't go as well, he might even start - while without him, we could struggle.
This is similar to the problem at point. Joel could leave. Or not. 7th and/or Jalek could become a good PG. Or not. So we might be fine. Or we could have just 1 or even zero true PGs a year from now. Which is why I want a true PG in the 2017 class if a good one is available.
I'm not saying we should go too low down the talent list to get either a SF or a PG, but we should be trying to get 1 good player at each position. So far we have only 1 offer out at each position. I'd like to see at least 1 more. Coleman seems an obvious choice at point. I don't know about SF.
Do we need more scholarships?
