...in D-League. Went for a (double) double-double 29 and 20 the other night. Good to see him going after it again. Hope a smart contender picks him up and gives him a shot. He could definitely help someone. Tyler can play in the league... just needs the right coach to actually utilize his abilities.

I will always root for Tyler no matter what he's doing in life. My favorite Tar Heel of all time

I believe he will be back on an NBA roster in the near future.

Thing that hurts him in the NBA is lack of passing/being a black hole. He was good enough in college to get away with it. Much harder in the NBA , especially of today.

Not true. It was never getting the ball unless it was an offensive rebound. Opposing coaches used to talk about what a match-up problem he could be but in Indy they almost never got the rock in his direction.

In order to get the ball you must deserve the ball. He was playing PF and looked like a 6'7 guard on the court in the NBA. When he got the ball, he was swallowed up by defenders and was consistently blocked from all angles. The fact that he never passed allowed teams to run a guard down on him and they'd just take the ball or block his shot. I dvrd all of the pacers games his first and 2nd year. I watched all of them, fast forwarding until he entered the game. He was dominated physically. His effort and tenacity was the only thing he had going for him. I hate to say it, he's one of my favorite players of all time, but he wasn't ready for the NBA. He may never be. I'll continue to root him on with hope he can eventually be a contributing player, but I don't think it will ever happen unless he can become a great 3pt shooter and play the stretch 4.

Wrong. While yes, he struggled some with NBA length, Tyler developed a strong face-up game.to go with his standard low block stuff.
I watched him a lot while he was at Indy and he definitely deserved the ball more. It's a matter of the system a team runs.

Lol. He has no position in the NBA. It's a different league now and he doesnt have the skills to be a stretch 4 that every team covets. He's a nice guy to have come off your bench for some hustle plays but thats about it. The days of 6'9 guys dominating the paint are long gone and he doesnt have a consistent 3 point shot to spread the floor

Because he isn't good enough at the NBA level to justify that number of touches like he was in college.

Lol exactly. The team had Paul George, Lance Stephenson, and David West but coach shouldve been drawing up plays for Tyler Hansbrough?

Ok. I watched every game for 2 years. You saw what you saw. I saw what I saw. Somehow we saw completely different things. From reading your posts the last few years, in sure in wrong. Why? Because you say so. His face up game was slightly better than in college. His post game was nullified by defenses, partly because he wasn't athletic enough, partly because he never passed (as someone else said, but you said was incorrect). Yes, a teams system matters. David west was able to do just fine in that system at the same position. They gave him the ball because he deserved the ball. Toronto and Charlottes system didn't fit him either i guess. Maybe there's 1 or 2 NBA system that his skill set would've fit. But they didn't see him worth the league minimum.

He wasn't resigned. In Indy. He went to Toronto. He wasn't retained even though their best PF was Patrick Patterson, who isn't any good. Was let go by charlotte who doesn't have any legit big men. Is now in the D-league. His heart, soul and work ethic will give him a chance to improve on his game and make the league again. If he doesn't/hasn't improved, I doubt he ever gets meaningful playing time in the NBA again. If he doesn't, there's a chance the reason is he wasn't given a chance. There's also a chance it's because he just isn't good enough for today's NBA. If he was playing in the 80's I'm sure he'd be a solid contributor at least. The problem is, this is 2017 and it's a different game.

I agree that we disagree. You, of course, just think that you're right. As always.

Fixed.
I love psycho t as much as the next guy, but it was obvious to me he was overmatched in the NBA. One must also consider that there are two sides of the court as well. While he was all effort and often created turnovers with his hustle, he was also overmatched on the defensive end.

He's a guy every team in the NBA would LOVE in the locker room.....and he's not in any locker room. There's a reason for that. He needs to improve.

IIRC, D-League doesn't pay very well. I seem to recall reading numbers in the $30-60K range.

Is Hans on salary from some club so that he makes better money than that?

If not, should he be paying in Europe?

Would he do better with those rules and with the players and style over there?

I imagine a lot of teams would love to have that force in the middle, and might pay good money for that.
