with the new house...concrete decking, gunite pool, not really any frills...the house is a mid-century modern theme, so minimalist is the idea.

my question is about the decking...is it really necessary to add the cool decking spray in sc?...i was hoping just concrete...the difference in price is about half based on the square footage of concrete.

i walk barefoot in my driveway and it’s not hot...what am i missing?

I didn’t know such a thing existed. Does it reflect the sun to keep the temperature down?

It does. I've helped build two family member's pools and we didn't use cooler on either decking and haven't had a problem with it being hot once. I'm not in SC but it's not exactly cold up here in the summer.

are you a pool guy or just wanted to help?

we’ve interviewed more than two companies for this job and they are completely different in their ideas to build what we want, but both put the cool deck in their quote.

Oh strictly just helped. The only knowledge I have on this is that I still use the two pools today and the decking isn't hot.

Yeah, summers in NY/NJ aren't comparable to summers in the south. Just like winters in the south aren't comparable to winters in NY/NJ

I’ve cleaned pools for 20 yrs as a side gig. Its not a necessity here like in s fla. They def get warm but nothing your bare feet cant tolerate

Feel free to hmu if u have any issues with water chemistry and filter and so on

we in RDU and have concrete decking around our 25' in-ground pool and no cool spray. it gets hot but not unbearable. we've never had slip issues but our concrete is textured/rough.
