Quick stuff (CoC game)...

I wish to let you know, Gary that I look forward to reading your post after every basketball game.

Thank you

even in our national championship years we have struggled against some mid majors (Santa Clara 05, Nothern Iowa 17)
To be fair, we were missing our point guard in both of those losses. But, yeah, we have lost creampuffy games we should have won in other years.

2018 Wofford
2014 UAB
2011 Ga Tech

That said, except for 2002 and 2020, I don't think we've ever lost to more than 1 creampuff in any given season (in the modern era).

I wasn’t able to watch the game, but from looking at the box score, it seems Hubert rolled with a 7 man rotation and had the same guys on the floor quite a bit, which is the complete opposite of what Roy used to do. Roy early in the season would tinker with so many different variations of lineups and it didn’t give the team any chance of momentum or continuity. Now obviously he found his guys later in the season, but that game is a game they probably lose under Roy. Not because Hubert is a better coach, but his early season philosophy seems to be different than Roy’s.

That is a good assessment. To me there is a slight nuance to it though. I think Hubs is trying to reward those who play the toughest D and value the ball. Others will see their PT increase when they get onboard with Team D! I really hope we go 10 deep by ACC time! Someone else said a good bit ago that Hubs has way more pressure on him to win than Ol' Roy did; I think this is untrue from the U or donor side, but it certainly could be what he is feeling! (who cares what fans think, lol)

It certainly could be a number of things. I think this area may be a legit difference in philosophy, at least as it pertains to early season floor time. That may have something to do with Hubert's NBA experience. Your difference makers, are going to be on the court?

10 deep, as some earlier hoped for, is difficult to do in the NBA with minutes. That is with 48 minute games, 3 games in 4 nights type scenarios, etc

They are expected to be ready on the bench, but you ride with your difference makers. His 8 may change, you can work into it, but I think he wants a core 8 as it relates to rotation.

Ditto.
I don’t always agree, and I often cringe when you so-easily snap at the “bait”, but I appreciate the analysis.

I also always look forward to ‘75’s follow-ups. We are very lucky to have a guy on this board, sharing wisdom, insight and “insider-sight” who’s actually stepped out on that court (ok, at Charmichael) even if it was sometime last century.

3-0 and we are questioning Hubert's rotation? SMH.

IMO, 3 games is not a large enough sample to throw McKoy under the bus. Apparently, he is showing Hubert something in practice for Hubert to keep him out there.
Correct. 3 games is not a large enough sample. 3 games is what we’ve played….so that’s what is being discussed.
