Rank these songs from the one in which you are most likely to have played at your funeral to the one that you are least likely to have played at your funeral.

I have provided videos for only 5 of the choices as the system has a limit on the amount of media embedded in a single poast. I have provided links for the other 4 options.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole

Dirt - Phish

Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die - Willie Nelson

Spirit In The Sky - Norman Greenbaum

The Crossroads - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

My Way - Frank Sinatra

Time To Say Goodbye - Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman

Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton

Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley

1. Spirit In The Sky - Norman Greenbaum - Awesome song, and fairly upbeat which would be nice.
2. The Crossroads - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - See above, but needed to pick a #1 and #2.
3. Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die - Willie Nelson - I'm about the lighthearted stuff - plus if weed was legal by then (or even if not), I could arrange for joints to be passed out at the funeral which would be a nice touch with this one.
4. My Way - Frank Sinatra - I feel like this would be a good representation of how I (at least hope) I lived me life.
5. Time To Say Goodbye - Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman - cuz its the f*cking Catalina Wine Mixer!! If I can get Will Ferrell and John C Riley to perform it, this gets bumped up.
6. Dirt - Phish - Decent
7. Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley - Meh
8. Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton - good song, but too depressing... don't want everyone bawling at my funeral.

I would die before I had Somewhere Over the Rainbow play at my funeral.... oh, wait...

Your choices suck. I want to leave them rocking at my funeral not crying. My choice, and the only correct choice, is Enter Sandman.

Great answers. That poast will be hard to beat...from the 2, maybe 3 other poasters that choose to participate in this thread.

I guess if this were a poll I'd vote for Spirit in the Sky, as I could at least conceive of that playing at my funeral. The rest, not.

My wife's best friend wants Comfortably Numb at her funeral. No amount of explaining that A) the song is not about death, or B) if it were it would convey a rather depressing notion of it, will alter her determination.

Interesting choices GSD. My most likely to least likely scenario:
Somewhere Over the Rainbow-My wife and kids would probably be making this decision and they are pretty sentimental so I would say this is "most likely"
Hallelujah-See above
Tears in Heaven-See above
Time to Say Goodbye-My wife loves Bocelli and would like this
Roll Me Up-My personal favorite of the choices though I've never partaken; don't think my wife would go for it
My Way-I really like Sinatra but not a big fan of this song
Dirt-Not familiar with this song before this thread but liked it better than the next two
Spirit in the Sky-Never been a fan
The Crossroads-Not gonna happen

My personal funeral song selections would probably be "Carolina in My Mind" and "The Water is Wide" with the Linda Ronstadt/David Sanborn rendition being my favorite. However, after the funeral, I would love for folks to have one helluva party!

This information was invaluable. Thank you for your sacrifice. And now, my rankings:

1. Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole
Beautiful rendition of a classic song. I'd be honored to have this played over my dead carcass.

2. Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die - Willie Nelson
It's cliche but I hope my funeral is a celebration of my life. Life is for living. Smoke a doobie for Raising Heel, y'all.

3. Dirt - Phish
My younger brother and I are both Phish fans. This would definitely get play. Of course a lot of their songs are best enjoyed after a nice doobie.

4. Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton
Tear jerker for sure, but great song. Play it, then smoke another doobie.

5. Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
Meh. I'm a big JB fan, but this song is used out of context far too often just because of its title (listen to the lyrics). I remember MTV playing it after 9/11. Whatever, it's still a good song. Play that shit.

6. The Crossroads - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Let's shake things up a bit. And yeah, go ahead and smoke a doobie while you're at it.

7. My Way - Frank Sinatra
Maybe this should be higher on the list. I dunno. Everything is a little hazy right now.

8. Time To Say Goodbye - Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman
Too much drama. Stop your crying.

9. Spirit In The Sky - Norman Greenbaum
I hate this song. Always have, don't know why. Please don't play it at my funeral.

Once again, all correct responses come from Dead tunes.

Hell in a Bucket
Brokedown Palace
Wharf Rat
Death Don't Have No Mercy
Saint of Circumstance

I'm sure there are at least a few more, but I'm only on my second cup of coffee
