recruiting

I'd like to see Clint get an update with Jeremiah Tilmon. Seems like 24/7 thinks we're his leader and he'd be a big time get at a need position.

We have Isaiah and Kennedy for one more year, at best, and we likely lose JJ too. Two years ago, the general consensus was that we'd land at least two of the top players in a loaded North Carolina class of '16. And most felt we were the strong leader for Giles. Guess what? It didn't happen.

We need a couple of bigs in both the'16 and '17 classes for the purpose of continuity. We need Rakocevic, lest we be caught with one center and a bunch of guards and small forwards. That could spell 8-20 all over again.

I would rather have an 8-20 type season (won't be that bad with Roy at the helm), and win a title two years later, than have 4 more years of what we have been having personally. I will take a really down year if it means top recruits see available playing time and come and turn us into a real contender again (which we have not been for 4 years).

Omer Yurtseven, class of '16, 7' 230lbs., UNC along with a number of schools after him. Visits this summer then decision...already projected a top 10 draft pick in '17.

What I agree with you is I dont think we should add a 3 star big for "depth" especially when we added a player for depth in the previous class at the same position. The staff appears to be on the lookout for a big in 2016 with the info yestereday about the the Uzbekistan big and there are always grad transfers. If we cant get a big that can play big minutes next season, than save the ship for 2017 and give it to Shea Rush.

Archer, schools are listed as:
Utah, Cal, Oregon, UNC, NCSt., Az, AzSt., UK, Tn, Mz, Ohio St., and the Bugs down to Atlanta. Reading between the lines he will pare this list to a visits list, as he understands he cannot make them all. If we get him on campus and talk academics and basketball, we can land this kid. A school like Cal or Ohio St could do much the same...he would be an interesting kid to join the Tar Heel family.

He was on a roll so Evan threw out Turkey...it's a lot like Uzbekistan, just a bit more to the west.

The Kid will not play pro ball in Turkey because he is not getting PT with his current club, he is looking for PT!!! PT we got for him, plenty of PT for him actually!

Assume we have Meeks and Hicks to go along with Tony, you know Hicks and Meeks are going to find foul trouble and Tony is going to be good but will he be ready right out of the gate for ACC play? This kid has more seasoning playing with higher level players. He looks a bit on the thin side but those euro big men can shoot and are grounded well in fundementals. This would be a heck of a pick up if we can pull it off.

But when you read on him David, it sure sounds like the kid loves his "club" but what is most interesting, he sounds like an "education" kid, he wants high level PT and academics, we have both for him. And I sure agree, could be a very nice pick up.

Has moo booked a trip yet? They must be getting desperate with only Smith coming in next year. I don't know who they lose besides Barber (probable) because they have such a hodge podge of transfers.

Way too early to be worried at this point Glov. We already have a great guard lined up for each of those classes. And we're going to have tons of PT to offer to bigs. We'll get our share. Keep the faith!

They look plenty rosy to me! I expect our staff to pull in a big for '16 somehow and to load up in the next two classes. (Knuckle draggers will run out of ways to make the "scandal" last much longer) DSPN will cry a river while milking our return to glory!

AND I'm very happy with the way THIS year has turned out so far!

It's so good to be back!
