How do you guys feel about this class compared to others?

I was a bunch more excited about 2015 due to all the linemen - Hatton, Sweet, Dalton, Strowbridge... espn had us with 10 4*s depending on the site.

2013 was pretty exciting.

But this class seems more like 2014 - Outside of Hood, Spain and Henderson, that was lots of 3* star guys that might help, might not - Jeremiah Clarke, MJ Stewart, Fritts are looking good, but there are bunch like Ayden Bonilla, Allen Artis, Malik Carney, Dinkins, Tyler Powell, Cabrera, Cayson Collins that look like they might never be starter-type guys.

Every team needs role-players, but i think this puts some pressure on 2017 to be dynamite.

i feel pretty good about this class. 7 four-star players, a legitimate top 20 class, 2 four-star quarterbacks. also, several of our three-star kids look more like four-stars to me based on their offers.

2017 is already shaping up to be a Monster class with 2 4stars already on board...Also you forgot about Andre Smith in the middle...I think Robert Dinkins has played well also...

Now the 2016 class I am very happy and very interested in how we finish out...Jordan Brown will be a player for UNC...Also the LB from Scotland County Smith is a guy that will be all over the field...I think this class is going to be very good in the future...

1). This could've gone in the already existing multi-page "Recruiting Class of 2016" thread.
2). OP, I think you are selling this class way short. This is an excellent class -- it didn't accidentally stumble its way into the Rivals Top 20 . . .

Glad to know everyone has good feelings about this one. Rivals is really high on this class, has us with 3.26* on average, which is actually the same spot as last yr. And I know stars aren't everything, but they are an indication of completeness based on a recruiters assessment. Scout.com has us 3.04 on average, last yr was 3.42. I kinda feel other sites, 247 and espn have it lower than last yr as well.

It's a very inexact science for sure, but Rivals is regarded as being a pretty solid talent evaluator for football, compared to Scout.

We must do better with in state prospects , there were too many that didn't even consider us..

THN11 is right, we should really benefit from a great season and the end of scholarship limitations. The further removed we are from the "scandal", the less affect it will have on recruiting. I foresee a great '17 class! All things considered, '16 was very good class. And I expect we'll land one or two more.

Fedora has shown he views talent differently from many others in that stars are not what he goes by. He felt Switzer was THE best a-back in the country, even though he only had 3 stars. He was right. He looks for kids that fit his system and has a keen eye for talent. Certainly, getting 4 star kids, and an occasional 5, would be nice, especially as recruits see other studs coming to UNC. But, at the end of the day, it is about identifying talent and then coaching the crap out of them, which Fed has shown he can do.

Give it time. As you rightly point out, we got some immediate impact players and very good ones as well. But football isn't basketball. That's one reason football redshirts so many players. It's hard to know as a fan who will emerge their sophomore, junior or senior year, especially for linemen, but other guys as well.
