Who is the best 3pt shooter,Jackson or Ellington? Give reasons why you think so.

Never did I see Ellington miss. At least that's what it seemed. So, I would say Wayne was a better shooter but JJ has a great deal more to add to the offense. But you asked shooter and hands down for me that was Wayne. It would be interesting to see the 3 point statistics between these two. Maybe someone has it.

Ellington. No question about it. His last year he was absolutely the most dangerous man an opponent faced and NO ONE wanted him to get the ball with the game on the line. Fearless and stepped it up when the team needed him to.

I love me some JJ, but kid doesn't have that ice cold, killer instinct that Wayne did. Wayne thrived on stabbing opponents in the heart just when they thought they had a chance.

I would say Ellington but I so vividly remember the horrible slump he had for about 10 games of that 2009 season. It was soooooo bad. I'll take JJ because of his quicker release and ability to shoot from anywhere, moving to the left or to the right.

100% Jackson. Why are y'all just looking at three point stats. All those floaters are shots, not dunks or lay ups. Wayne didn't have that in his game.

...and I know this is a little tangental to the OP question but it seems like JJ has better NBA potential with his ability to shoot those floaters with either hand, quick release, and size and quickness, length, stamina to guard NBA wings (2s, 3s, small 4s).

Also, when JB has his legs he's a better 3-pt shooter than Justin.

They both shoot 38%. But I bet there are approximately 25 teams who would disagree with your statement ... and their defensive schemes throughout the year have proved it.

Won't be popular here but McCants was better than either.

Statistically that can't be argued (41% career). Although McCants never took more than 191 three's in any of his three season at UNC. JJ has taken 275 this year ... Berry 217.

Wayne is the better shooter. He came in a natural. Justin has worked hard to get where he is. Won't be popular here but McCants was better than either.

All pro talent, but unfortunately he had other issues.

Ty Lawson his junior year!

That was such a great team, Ty, Danny and Wayne were all good/great 3 point shooters, then you have Tyler, Deon and Ed down low....come on.

Jackson this year. Marcus his soph year. Take both of those yearly versions of Ellington. Always felt he played way too passive besides... the game... you know which.

Imagine Ellington was the best for his whole carer but I'm THRILLED we have JB & JJ shooting 3's along with Luke that's a deadly bunch. And Nate has his moments when his shot is just beautiful. BLESSED we are. GO HEELS!

Not true. They've shaded JB more, and he was well over 40% until the injuries.

Well there is no way for either of us to quantify what opposing defenses have and have not done --- it's based on appearances and listening to what opposing coaches have said ...and it's my opinion that Justin has presented the bigger outside shooting threat to opposing teams than Berry.

It has appeared to me that defenses have been more concerned with Berry's DRIVING ability than any spot up shooting. But again, we're both simply sharing our opinions. No sense in arguing I suppose.

Ellington. Not close when only looking at 3-pt shooting. Much closer if you look at total game.

__ Wayne Justin
FR .371 .304
SO .400 .292
JR .417 .380

JJ career = 166-483 = .344

WE career = 229-577 = .397

In JJ's first 2 seasons he finished strong down the stretch - hitting 45% as a frosh and 37% as a soph. This year there isn't much difference in percentage down the stretch, but he is shooting much more.

Bleeduncblue...... so you're new around these parts, huh?! ;)
haha ... I wont argue (very often) .. it's a message board with a bunch of weirdos (myself included) from all different walks of life, toting around our own life-shaped opinions. I know Gary's schtick well, I have no problem with him.

Very good responses to the question guys, yeah,I know we've had other good shooters but just wanted to know who you guys thought was better of the two mentioned.Something to pass the time away before tip off tonight.....Go Heels!!!! Bring that natty back to the hill.
