Expected to see a thread on this. In Asia so haven't had a chance to see the last two Heels games but apparently a UNC fan got tossed at halftime for yelling, "Pitino, you suck!"

A) How do you get tossed because of that?

B) Why is Roy apologizing to Pitino over some bullshit?

Unless there was more said (A ESPN reporter said that's all taht was said), sports venues would be 99% empty if you couldn't say anything "bad" about anyone..

2 thoughts on that, first a fan screaming at an opposing coach does not warrant him being thrown out of the game. Second, pretty thin skinned for Pitino to react at what a fan says in the way he did. I could see both had the fan thrown something at Pitino other than words but saw no indication of that.

The fan got tossed because Pitino was butt hurt and went after him like a raged lunatic. Security had to do something at that point.

It really is mind boggling. I'm somewhat hopeful that the reported "You Suck" wasn't the extent of what was said. If you can get kicked out of a game for saying that, they might as well boot me out once I get through the turnstile, cuz I'm not saying much kinder than that to the opposition.

I think that there was something else said besides you suck. I find it hard to believe saying you suck would cause a fan to get kicked out.

I must admit I'm a little perturbed by Pitinos handling of the fan ejection. I don't know what was said, and frankly don't care, but he could've just kept walking instead of getting all butt hurt over it, which carried over into the postgame interviews.

Personally, it was frustrating to me seeing him hug the court while Carolina was on offense on that end in the first half. On several occasions he nearly made contact with the UNC ball handler. Maybe I'm making a bigger deal out of it than necessary but it was very noticeable.

Frankly, a hall of fame coach should spend more time being concerned with how his team is playing as opposed to what fans yell at him on the road.

Sure seemed to me that little Ricky (the walking corpse) alluded to something beside just the reported you suck comment in his presser.
He also travels with his own "security".
I guess the Smith Center has rules on those issues.
In a rage over a comment that is far less severe than anything he ever heard in any other arena. Poor little Ricky.

A couple of PC idiots on ESPN chat board claimed the fan made an anti muslim remark to one of the UL players. I think this is fake news BS because 1) Pitino said the fan "said something to ME that I didn't like" and 2) CH is the most PC place in the south and possibly the nation. I think Pitino got mad because the fan made the remark and then turned his back on him.

Pitino was out of control last night. I thought he could have and should have been t'd up several times. I am sure coaches hear a lot of stuff, got to be pretty thin skinned to get that mad over "you suck". I also think fans are out of control at games. It is a freaking college game. Get over it.

That's the story making the rounds on social media. The fan allegedly referred to Mahmoud to Pitino as a "towel head" or "terrorist." Perhaps both. I mean, Pitino hears "you suck" while attending church. Zero chance that alone set him off.

Good game last night.

Now this makes more sense with his reaction. Also makes sense for Roy to apologize for this.

Gonna need audio/video to buy that one. Mighta happened, probably didn't. If/When audio/video evidence is presented to confirm I will join those who say he should have been thrown out of the building.

social media? Well that sure verifies it....LMFAO

This right here. The guy who appeared to say something turned his back and also looked pretty wimpy. I think Pitino latched on to the fact that the fan appeared to be pretty gutless and Pitino thought he could appear tough for going after the guy who clearly wasn't very manly. If you watch the replay, a number of the other folks around Pitino also kind of perk up when they hear something as well. I just can't image they would all perk up over "you suck", as they have to be pretty used to and numb to those comments. Maybe the guy said something more like "Pitino, you F'n suck" and the fact that he was so close and also appeared nerdy is what set him off.

Curious, I re-watched the video, we don't see the guy say anything but as the walking corpse is exiting the court, a man, blue shirt, khakis, who appears to have a light jacket and perhaps a program, seems to turn away as walking corpse goes by and turns in a rage, the man turns to walk away from courtside when another man, in walking corpse's entourage, takes the alleged offender by the arm and tends to hold him as walking corpses group holds corpse back, then on down the tunnel, the alleged offender seems in no way upset and just walks off with the "security" guy...not a Smith Center person but officers do appear at the end of the video.
Part of the issue, the guy was technically on the floor, very near the corner of the court, not in his seat.

AJ has confirmed, the "you suck" was it. Pitino just way over-reacted forcing the security folks to do something. The "towel head" crap is just more made up media style reporting.. Sad isn't it?

Then he says something along the lines, "I always thought Carolina was one of the classiest places in the country".

GMAB

It was definitely that guy. You can see he doesn't object at all to being grabbed and led down toward the tunnel. He knew he was guilty of whatever was said, and clearly Pitino is locked in on him. Like I said, the guy seems pretty wimpy, so I think Pitino just latched on to that fact, as well as his proximity to the court and coach as you said.

He tried to make it about the fact that the guy was an adult and not a student which is no less ridiculous. I have to wonder what else is going on because I've never noticed him that way that I can recall and he was clearly overreacting to things throughout the game.

Yup, me too. When they can't even get the insult squared away is when it becomes doubtful. "He said 'Towel Head'... or maybe it was 'terrorist'... or maybe it was something else - but whatever it was it was certainly racist!".

Whatever was said was still an overreaction to me. You're a freakin hall of fame coach - act like it. Keep walking and go coach your team at halftime and focus on the court and not in the stands.

Also, Pitino is guilty of talking out both sides of his mouth by saying:

"I've always said that this is the classiest place in college basketball — until I met a fan on the way out. It always reminded me of a class place, but they're getting just like some of the other places now."

Then finishing it up with:

But North Carolina is a classy place, and one person doesn't speak for the rest of the people."

Yeah .. had to be more than that to it. If that was the case they would have to clear the barn (aka HIS) at the beginning of each game because that's how those worthless irrelevant nerds say hello when opposing teams are introduced.

Yep he is a bitch, like Roy never hears crap like that. I said it before maybe the guy brought up his recruiting whore house!

Clearly a meth-head he probably hasn't been to bed in 5 days!
I really thought joining the ACC was a step up for the Cards, these posts do not do anything to make me think the ACC is the classy league I thought it was and UNC was one of the programs I respected.

Look, your coach overreacted to a remark he gets paid millions of dollars to ignore. You and your coach both need to put your big boy britches on.
