Langford has scheduled to take an official visit to UNC on Late Night with Roy on October 13th. I've read a couple of times that he and his family really like Roy Williams. He was Roy's first visit after the National Championship which showed right away how he was viewed as a priority. How great it would be to land him since he was the first visit like Lawson after '05 and Barnes after '09.

Roy does tend to like very talented & gifted guard play....come on to the Hill, Mr. Langford.

It's always fascinating to watch our recruiting enthusiasts deliberately setting themselves up for disappointment. When Roy pulls one of these off wake me up. Not trying to be negative...just realistic. I want Romeo ....oh thy romeo---as much as you folks.

I AM a True Believer in both the Tar Heel Way and Roy! However, I am never disappointed when peeps choose to go to other schools. They are youngsters with the world in front of them and very few bad choices so I don't hold it against them if they choose another school! I do think it strange when Bigs go to puke or anybody chooses Moo over us, but I don't denigrate the kid! Roe is the only kid I remember saying negative things about because he chose another school and everyone knows why!

I am hopeful about Mr. Langford due to his other worldly talent and Roy's skill at recruiting. If he goes somewhere else; it doesn't reflect on Roy or the Tar Heels to me! I would hate to live life with no hope at all, seems miserable! TEHO! (to each his own)

Neither do I. UNC isn't for everyone.

Well said. Expresses how I feel to a tee.

I remember he told Roy he was coming and then backed out but why?

There has been rampant speculation as to why, but the consensus is that he was intentionally stringing Roy along just to mess with him/UNC. Some have said he was "helping" his eventual coach by keeping UNC from getting other recruits, but nobody has said definitively that the coach was involved. (To my knowledge and IIRC)

I think the kid and his family genuinely like Roy and UNC and I do think if the circumstances were different we would not only be a dog in this one but maybe the dog to beat. But we are so crowded at the spot he will play that I can not see any way he picks us in the end.

D= my post was about the Infamous Delvon "Spineless" Roe. I believe you are discussing Mr. Langford.

I did not mean to derail, lol.

Who will be on UNC's roster that would play over Langford?

TPFK, it happens around this place, nice save though!

Some players want to play and some are not afraid of competition, even loaded at that spot, if Romeo is all that, he should be able to hold his own and win his position. If not, go elsewhere and play among lesser competition.

I didn't say anyone would play OVER Langford BUT there are multiple players on our roster as well as coming to our roster in what would be his freshman season that absolutely WOULD get solid PT. Do you see this kid coming to a team that has so much clutter at his position?

That was the point I made and really do not think it was confusing and yet you derive from that me stating players would play over him? It may be a better tact, if what you want is reasonable discussion, to ask if you do not understand, rather than trying to assume the worst case.

Or you could calm down a bit and not take a simple question as some sort of personal attack. IMO kids like Langford know they don't have to worry about playing time because they're starting at any program in the country, I don't see anyone scaring him off at UNC next season.

No one is taking minutes from Langford unless he needs a rest. It's really that simple.

You confused my setting you straight with my being upset. And yet you either do not understand the point I made or refuse to acknowledge it. I didn't say anyone on our roster would "scare" him off but it is an easy fact to accept that UNC does have a lot of guys at his position that will get playing time. Scared off no, but 30+mins isn't going to happen either. Simply put, that is going to be a HUGE factor in the kids final decision.

Many elite OAD types have stated that they didn't go to a school because they had peeps at their position. I think it is cowardly, but their generation thinks of it as "protecting their brand" or some such nonsense!

I think Langford leans more toward the Old School notion that I can beat out my competition if I am good enough.Common sense and recent drafts should prove that you don't have to start to get drafted in the first round! Hopefully he chooses us!

Langford is a peculiar situation given that we have a ton of depth at that position. If he were to commit to us for 2018 we would have Kenny Williams, Jalek Felton, Seventh Woods, Brandon Robinson, and Coby White in the backcourt. So nothing to deter him, Felton might even leave early, but you stand a better chance when there's a true need at the position.

I believe that to be the case.
Are we the "favorite" to land him? No.
Do we have a very realistic shot? Yes.
Does he fill a position of need for this particular class? No.
Is he nonetheless a "take" because of his ability? Yes.

All of this is very accurate.

Don't tell UK that. They promised 9 guys on their current roster that they'd start at the 2 and they all bought it.

Yeah well cal can say what he wants. He's a salesman by nature and a damn good one. It's no surprise a lot of kids buy into what he says.

But he doesn't build teams and that's his biggest flaw.

Romeo has the height and wing span to play some SF. its whoever bites first between Romeo,Little and Williamson then between Days, Shittu and Laszewski (if anyone bites) IMO.

SO - 30 - Jalek
JR - 49 - Seventh
FR - 25 - Coby
SR - 92 - Kenny W
JR - 60 - Brandon
SO - 218 - Andrew
SO - NR - Kenny S
FR - 64 - Leaky
SR - 254 - Cam
JR - NR - Rush

Have I forgotten any guards or wings?

OK, Kenny and Rush are walk-ons. But that doesn't mean they won't be competing for PT.

And, yes, some think Jalek or Cam or both might be gone. I doubt it, but it's possible.

I was wondering about that. If Cam leaves, we could be light there.

But does he want to play SF? If he thinks he might be pushed that direction and doesn't like that idea, would that turn him away from us?

Romeo is as pure a deuce as you're gonna find. He is a very, VERY different player than Little (or Days or Zion).

Yeah...not sure how anyone who has watched them play can put Romeo in a conversation with Little, Days, or Zion. Not even close to the same type of player.

lmao. is Cameron Johnson like Little and Zion? because he is about to be our starting SF. just because I said he will take one of Langford, Little or Zion, because Roy can use Langford at SF some, doesnt mean I think they are the same player.

A pure 2 can certainly play the 3 in college. Langford has solid height, length, reach, and weight for a college 3.

"Can" and "should" are two different things. While many of the Wing responsibilities are interchangeable in the Carolina system, not all are. Some guys can go back and forth well, some cannot.

Here's the best comparison I can give you:
Did you see Wayne Ellington or Donald Williams play even a minute of 3 at UNC? I'll answer that for you --- no. There was a good reason for that.

Taking Langford has zero to do as to whether Roy would take Little or Zion (even if we're fortunate enough to have those options).

And while of course everyone is different, Cam is indeed playing a role much more similar to Little or Zion than to Langford.
Those guys are all 3/4 Hybrids. Romeo is a classic 2.

I don't think so Gary. I believe Roy wants one of the wing type players, and a big in this class. As I said, even if Romeo is a "classic" two, he has the size to play some SF. That is all. Are Gary Trent Jr and Grayson Allen prototypical SF's? because one of them will be playing SF for Duke this year.

Cam is nothing like Little or Zion
