I read somewhere, whenever the NBA and NCAA cancelled us, that sports revenue is like less than 4% of North Carolina's total revenue. While I'll miss being able to attend these events it's not a drop in the bucket compared to our beautiful beaches and mountains.

This is what pisses me off about the whole situation. If they can make close to the same amount of money, they'll throw their political weight around, but in situations that wouldn't get as much coverage, and/or that they don't have an equal money making opportunity - they turn their backs on their supposed values.
The last Republican Governor I remember before McCrory was Jim Martin. NC has been mostly controlled be Democrats for a couple of centuries. So not sure your history of Republican Governors holds that much merit since there has not been many. seems like Jim Hunt was governor for 40 years.

Jim Hunt was a mainstay for a while. I think he did 2 separate stints, actually. I remember him as governor when I was a kid. I remember Jim Holshouser, too. Not much... just the name.
No kidding? I have a close friend with the same experience- met Jim Hunt several times and came away each time saying that he was a very nice man.
I believe that McCrory is the only North Carolina governor of any party who has ever lost a re-election bid.
And, to anyone griping about the alleged hypocrisy of the NCAA or the NBA, or any institution or artist or whoever else is shunning NC as a venue? Boycott those institutions, if you're upset. Stop watching NCAA football and basketball. Don't defend the prejudice/discrimination in that stupid HB2 law by criticizing the decision to avoid the state because of it.
