Roy doin' work...

Thanks for the info G-7, I enjoy your take on these things.

Please don't feed the idiots, let the trolls remain under their bridges and simply put them on ignore. It makes life so much more pleasant.

Pulling WC would be a coup and I believe Roy is capable of doing it!

Wouldn't be a shocker at all... well, maybe to the dookies.
Again, I'll give em credit, they have put a bull-rush on him and impressed him in doing so. It will be a battle, and it ain't over.

I'll just put it this way: Listen to what they say at home, not what the programs/fans say.

There were a LOT of folks close to the UNC program who were confident about Udoka, however I don't know ANYBODY who is on the ground in GA/FL circles who shared that belief... and when my best source simply texted me "Kansas" the other night I knew it was over. In other words, what I'm simply trying to share on here is that the dookie confidence up there on WC doesn't quite match the noises down here in my neck o' the woods, and those noises are way more positive for us on Wendell than they ever were on Udoka... and I'll just leave it at that.
Gary, keep the information coming. I just can't get that excited about a player who has not visited UNC. He will have several opportunities over the next several weeks to visit the campus. Lets see if he makes it. I don't know of any player over the last several years that have signed with UNC and never visited the campus. Perhaps you can dig out when he plans to make the trek to UNC.

You been wanting this for a while, now run tell both your friends you got banned.

Suuuure thing, gar. Of course it's old "Awww shucks" Huckleberry that is THE straightest and most honest as they come. Funny how over the years you seem to hear how old Roy is quite different than what he tries to portray.
aww... poor little troll. Step out of your momma's basement and get some fresh air.

Look domer, it's obvious you're trolling to see how quickly you can earn your blue badge of courage and get banned. Suffice it to say you wouldn't trade your çoach for ours and vice versa. If you want to discuss basketball, fine. If all you want to do is make disparaging remarks about UNC, be gone.

GTF outta here! You're just another typical doochie douchebag. Stick to your own board with the rest of your pillow-biters.

Roy is the best coach in college bball and I am also happy to report that he is a really good human being to boot! Which programs really believe these two things about their coach?

Life sure is pleasant when you liberally use the ignore button!

He's posting on another thread, hinting that he's a ND fan. That would be even sadder, if true.

Yeah, I have been having some fun slapping him around some, he is a K-Mart dukie, sad actually but fun to toy with.

No, everybody was NOT saying Kansas, or didn't you read this board the past couple of days? Good grief.

And what I said about Dennis Smith was a true account of something Boo Williams said... and when I shared it I added the disclaimer that I didn't buy his conclusions --- it was more likely an indicator that Roy had made up some ground (which he had) but still likely wouldn't overcome the sketchiness in Smith's recruitment (he didn't). And I also posted not to come back at me months later and act like I was calling him to UNC, because I wasn't. But here we go --- sure enough out comes a rather douchey selective recall to throw at me.

I started this thread just to share some info on Roy's recruiting stop, and some local stuff I know about Wendell Carter. It's responses like this that will make me think twice before I bring anything else to this place.
I am sorry I offended you and what you share on here is your choice. I fear a lot of chatter on the ground in some circles is wishful thinking by fans and I get all my info from the recruiting gurus on several sites who are interviewing these kids and their families. I think a lot of these kids are probably easy to read and some aren't. I feel WC has drank long and often from the dookie Kool-Aid trough and swallowed K's USA basketball. B.S. hook line and sinker When I see the first guru talk positive WC-UNC then I will let myself hope as of now dook is 100% on 15 predictions and 3 other teams who are not UNC are listed as warm. WC is no more a must have recruit for UNC than "China Doll" Giles was.

dookie once-removed?

Maybe one of those garden variety "different teams for different sports" guys.... ND for football (hence DomerLover for the golden domes....) and Dook for basketball (which BTW Dook has had it handed to them by ND in basketball in 3 of the last 4 or 4 of 5...... I don't recall which).....

...in seeing the garbage he posts here, I can't get past thinking his posting ID should be bonerlover, friend of "catcherforlife"

there is no lower form of bandwagoner than the dook basketball/ND football variety. The sad fact is most of them probably couldn't identify the state either is in , much less the city.

As maybe in a 6'7" 210lb kid that also got an offer yesterday? And by the way, a big time player to boot!
Jairus Hamilton is his name. He had a growth spurt over the last 18 months. Was 5-10 and now 6-7 and still growing. Can you imagine this kid growing a couple of more inches and him and Leaky on the floor at the same time. This is an older link, but this kid has some nice moves for a 10th grader. Bossi says he is UNC's to lose and he would not be surprised to see him commit soon.

Look, I don't GAS if someone wants to disagree with an assessment --- hey, opinions are what they are, fair game --- but I don't have much patience with otherwise good posters telling me (in so many words, or verbatim in once case) that I'm full of crap when I share information.
So I'm gonna make one more all-in post on the subject and I'm done with this thread.
(and keep in mind the "chatter" I've referred to has zero to do with fans)

What I know (information):
1. Back before any offers were even made by colleges, UNC was known down here in ATL to be the odds-on favorite to land WC... and what I posted about Roy and WCSr has been developed over time and is still strong.
2. You are correct about K and USA Basketball --- in fact if y'all want an example of the unfair advantage all that is? Welp, here ya go. I will state without hesitation that without USA Basketball dook would not even be a player for WC. That, and now Capel dishing out the Kool-aid has made them strong contenders and possibly the "leader".
3. The family is not determined to choose a "private school" --- they just want a strong academic school.
4. There has been (as with many lately) mucho negative recruiting by dook.

What I don't know:
1. whether the negative recruiting vis a vis the overblown AFAM crap has affected things with the Carters
2. how much credence the package deal thing with Trent actually has with WC.
(these are two things I'm hoping to find out)

What I believe (here is the opinion):
1. This thing is far from over. Roy didn't come down here just to breath some Atlanta air.
2. We at the very least have a better chance here than we ever did with Udoka
3. WC is a much more important recruit than Giles

Take all that as you will. Disagree with the opinions if you want (hey, you might be right)... but arguing with information is kinda like arguing with the weather.

Anyway, I'm out.

Thanks Gary.
Please keep up the info/insight/whispers/whatever the hell it is and I promise to only every take it on face value.
As for the big man stocks, I sure hope Roy is able to keep the cupboard full, no matter what happens with this years team (I did want Udoka, but a project body/ late signing/ grad snr might have to do now)

I really didn't mean to insinuate anybody's opinion is crap. I'm just afraid shoe deals , handlers and USA basketball are stronger than a of the hard work Roy does and I appreciate the fact that Roy stays away from guys like Maker and others Apparently even K shied away from Maker..

Why I said Gary is full of it about Carter. He is all but a dook lock.
Yeah, the article has K in there early but there were no quotes to say WC is all but a dook lock.

We all know Roy has had a rough trot on the recruiting trail of late (an April-November board topic that was done to death last year) and AFAM is not settled, Negative recruiting continues, and Dook won both rivalry games last year.

So the question is, should he just roll over and not compete?

Just because K slimed his way into the living room first and threw B.S name comparisons at the kid does that mean it's all over?

Should Roy just stick to 4.5 stars and build teams like this years?
Should he give up the moment any deep pocketed coach moves in on a recruit?

I say no.

I like that he's working and competing and fighting for every player. He won't get them all, no one does. But just like the game of basketball, you don't win if you don't compete.

If, for all his work, Roy pulls in Berry/Jackson/Pinson classes every couple of years, and jags the odd Barnes or Henson then I'll be pretty chuffed. Especially if they are the type of people that those players are.
