I suppose he goes to the NFL, but I am not sure it is the absolute lock it was 6 months ago. Sam, at that point, was considered the best QB in the country and the first QB picked. This year was only supposed to enhance that and possibly pick up a Heisman along the way. Now I have heard recruiting experts on the radio saying they could see him falling to the 2nd, or 3rd, round. Sam might do himself a favor by coming back and regaining the reputation he once enjoyed

I'm just saying. The boy isn't worth nearly as much money as he was worth a few months ago. He lost millions.

It was a joke because you posted it on the wrong board. He hasn't lost as much as people think he has though.

He dropped because some so-called experts are factoring in the team results as a reflection on Sam's production. The defense sucked and the OL forced him into running for his life way too often, and he had one reliable receiver. I don't think he will fall too far, but some team will get a steal if he falls to the 3rd round.

He won't fall that far. The actual experts (not the media talking heads) take into account everything you just said.

QBs of his ability get drafted based on what they do in their individual workouts and interviews. His results this season will mean nothing if he nails it the next 3 months.

His results were pretty damn good. If it wasn't for him we would have won two games max.

Yep; he accounted for the same number of TD's and yards this year as last if you add in rushing stats... (pre-mayonnaise bowl numbers):

2021: 3884 yds (3056 + 828); 35 tds (24 + 11)
2020: 3968 yds (3586 + 382); 35 tds (30 + 5)

The dude had to single-handedly make up for the lack of receivers and the crappy OL by doing it himself. Warrior!

Hopefully he can work his way back into a 1st round call. Great UNC career.

We would have had a Fedora-type record?
I think so. Who else on the team could have stepped up like he did? He put this team on his back and drug them to six wins. And then we have people in our fan base who are so stupid they blame him for us losing.

Okay... so, Mack and Co. really isn't much better than Fedora if he had to have Sam Howell to get more wins than Fedora. I'm not trying to get Fedora back, mind you. Just reiterating that Mack Brown isn't all that great, and isn't going to be.

Well, Mack got him here. That lead to more wins. Fed didn't do either.

Luke Maye's little brother will win more games as a starting QB for UNC than Sam Howell did.

Personally I hope he falls to a team that sees him as their starting qb in a couple of years and he can sit and watch. Trubisky's one great year showed you have to look at the body of work. I was hoping Mitch would have fallen and let the Steelers take him so he could sit behind Ben for a couple of seasons. I think Howell could be a really good NFL qb if he is not expected to carry a franchise next season.

I think Sam will excel in the NFL if he has at least an average offensive line and a few good skill players. I kept telling my Family all summer long that our preseason ranking was way too high. I just didn’t see how we could make up for our four top skill players going to the NFL. The only thing that I thought was in our favor was that our offensive line were all coming back and they would get a chance to gel a lot more together. Plus we were returning 10 of our defensive starters and we were getting some other key players back from injury. I was sure wrong about the offensive line and the defense. I’ve said it before that we have the players but our scheme on defense is absurd. Mack Brown, Dre Bly etc…have done an amazing job of recruiting the last 3 years. However, our play does not coralate with our talent which falls to coaching and schemes. Recruits now are going to be able to use that against us unless we start turning things around. Even on offense I could never understand their lack of urgency in key moments near the end of games. Plus our whole team lacked focus and discipline.

I don't think he's ready to be a full-time franchise NFL quarterback. But, I'm hardly any kind of expert.

Many of the current predictions are to Detroit at the end of the 1st round. Detroit is not ideal in my opinion.

It should be obvious that Nagy ruined Mitch. Not saying Mitch would have been an all pro without Nagy, but he would have been better without him.

I thought maybe he was going to join the basketball team for the rest of the year. Did he hoop in HS?
