Helmet to helmet hits have been called all year.

It was helmet to helmet against a defenseless player. When viewed from other angle his head was bent back 90 degrees from the defenders hit. Not a pats fan but imo, and the official in the booth agreed, it was the proper call.

Haters gonna hate, but that gets called all day long in the current NFL. In college the guy probably would have been ejected.

Lip syncing vocals is one thing. Faking a guitar solo is an offense that cannot be forgiven though.
Do what?! I made dinner during halftime and had the volume down. Still managed to see the awful guitar prop and the tacky removal of clothing. But he actually faked a guitar solo? What an embarrassing spectacle that must've been. How did nobody talk him out of this stupid shit?

Yeah that definitely was a pre-recorded guitar solo. At one point he had his hands in an entirely wrong part of the neck for the notes that were being played. Most people wouldn’t have caught it because he turned his back to the main camera.

I realize that it was a "direct hit"... but, it wasn't an illegal hit from my vantage point. I guess I had watched too many of the old Super Bowl highlights from the 70s and 80s. I knew that the Pat's player's head was pushed back. But, the tackle itself was direct and forceful... not illegal. I don't think he led with the helmet.

He's not leading with the crown. He's just squarely making FULL contact. He's using his arms to wrap him up and there's no room for the head to go anywhere but back. His facemask is pushing his head back.

I completely agree. I wouldn't have called that. How in the world are you supposed to tackle anyone these days?

You don't have to be leading with the crown to get the flag. His helmet hitting Burkhead's helmet was the first point of contact.

I think the rule is a little over the top, but it was called correctly according to the rule.

Contact to the head or neck area on a defenseless player is personal foul nowadays. We can argue that it shouldn't be, and I think a lot of people would agree with you, but that's the rules.

I contend Burkhead was not defenseless. After the catch he turned a full 90 degrees and took two steps. I understand the validity of the rule when a receiver is in a crossing route or on a slant, focusing on the football when he gets blindsided by a defender. I believe that was the original intent of the rule.

On the other hand, a running back catching a short pass behind the line of scrimmage on a screen who is stopped by a cornerback making the correct read and a proper form tackle deserves to be tackled. The way the rule obviously stands this day and age, the defender is supposed to whiff on the ball carrier and allow him to run by. That is stupid, illogical bullshit. The NFL sucks.

To add my .02 to the thread. I love to see a good defensive battle. Both teams defenses played lights out football. And I was glad to see the Rams lose. The Saints should have been in the SB and not the Rams. And even though I am not a TB fan, he is the GOAT.

I watched exactly 20 seconds of this before bowing out. Please note that at the 0:10 second mark and the 0:19 second mark, you can hear a chord being strummed but he's not actually playing anything.
Yeah, he has another guitar player doing most of the rhythm during Purple Rain.

ETA: He is playing the solo, however.

I’m like 99.9% sure that is John Mayer’s guitar rig in the background. Pretty sure that’s his dumble SSS and one of his two rock signature amps.
