Cole scored close to 30 points?
Bacot had a good offensive game
Leaky & Brooks as well.


Edit to add: Rebounding from Brooks & Bacot ( 20 ) combined.
38% shooting on 3's ? Not sure of this one, but that is what I read in the notes I was given.
Good rebounding-weak to average-to good defense. Both teams worked against zone defenses for a period-do not know how long. But the notes say that we won this period.

I like that Roy scrimmaged against ‘Nova... From afar they seem to be a very good outfit and Jay Wright seems to be one of the ‘very good guys’ in coaching.
I also like how wright has won post season championships without hanging any recruiting banners!

I think Gonzaga played USC too. Don't know the results.
Keep in mind Langford for Mich St re-injured his foot and is out until Jan at the earliest. His Dad has not ruled out a RS season. Sucks for the kid.

I didn't mean to get sidetracked. In iur Scrimmage, I like that Cole can go get 28 points..........I don't like that Cole had to go get 28 points. Not much mention of Keeling today, but I realize it is just one game.
I am looking forward to Fridsy night where Roy will likley play a ton of guys, but thete won't be as many stop and starts. Better flow to see how a rotation breaks out.
That being said, A Roy Nov/Dec rotation looks quite a bit different than the after New Year rotation.

Well players not named Cole/Mando/Garrison/Leaky put up 32 points. I’m guessing Christian/BRob/Justin scored two thirds of those.

I don’t worry about scoring. If we can be top 10 in rebounding again this year, and play solid defense, we’ll score plenty of points.

Agree Cory, these secret scrimmages are more like glorified practice sessions where coaches tend to want to work on certain aspects but being able to do so vs guys they do not go against every day in practice. Clearly a focus for nova was shooting treys, seems as if maybe nova treated it more like a competitive game than we did, at least in the initial session.

A couple things I do find a bit concerning, first allowing the nova player to hit all those treys, think one of them ended with 39pts for the series of sessions and most of that coming from treys in the first couple sessions?

That opens up an additional question as well as show my second concern, the second session, was I think bench players vs bench players? Justin Moore scored 15 of his points in that second session, so either the guy that scored 39 on us was not a starter or Jay Wright didn't exactly adhere to the format and played at least that starter for the second session. In any event, our bench lost that second session which could be reason for some degree of concern. Reason, our bench talent looks pretty good, maybe it is a touch behind because some players have been dinged up or are recovering from surgery.

We shot 50% for the sessions combined and held them to 39% and edged them rebounding, good signs vs a very talented opponent. Looks like we were solid vs the zones, very important because we will see a lot of zones this season. Roy stresses defense above offense in pre-season practice so the allow of a guy 12 treys is a concern to me but shooting 50% is maybe a bit ahead of what I would have expected for this time of the year.

These are glorified practices so everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

TBS, I liked the fact that we shot over 50% and held them to under 40%. Makes me think we were getting higher quality shots overall. I also like the fact that we out rebounded them, albeit not by much. Rebounding is going to be crucial to our success, I think it will be a forte of ours again this year.

Not worried about one guy going off for 39 from long distance. I would like to see our 3-pt%, assists, and turnover numbers.

Gillespie didn't play against UNC. Antione didn't either. The transitive property, especially comparing a controlled scrimmage to a legit scrimmage, is hard to do though.
