Selection Sunday Thread

I do not enjoy having Dunn, Ferrell, Ulis & Murray all in the top half of our bracket. I've seen too many elite guards carry teams a few rounds this time of year to be happy drawing that kind of firepower in the round of 32 and Sweet 16.

We have our own elite guards (plural)!!

I feel like the #4 overall and not the #2 (which we actually are).
It may have been better to be #5 and the highest #2 (like MSU) and get a cake walk to the Elite 8.
UNC vs. UK is probably most professional level talent on the same floor in the history of the Sweet 16.

I watched the KY/A&M game today... I don't wanna have to play Kentucky. But, they're there, so it's looking like we'll have to play them.

I AGREE about UK.....listen, the truth is, UK has to play UNC! That is what everyone should be talking about because I'm telling all right now, our front line is a HUGE and I mean HUGE problem for this UK team. Brice Johnson will be a nightmare for this team IMO.

On a neutral court I like UNC against the field. Sure the odds are against Carolina but I am not a band wagon fan and I will stand with my decision and choice.

Give us a raw deal. What else is new. Let's roll through the competition.

Any idea when we play Thursday... I'm gotta go to the game... never been to a ncaa tournament game. Is conventional wisdom that since it's 1 v 16 it wouldn't be a prime time aka 2nd session game or am i thinking backwards. Thanks guys and go Heels!

It's funny to see dspn title one article Brutal Road for UNC. How do you judge UK when they play in a crap conference.

Kentucky doesn't worry me. Yeah they are playing better, but they're winning against weak competition in the SEC, who as a league got 3 but probably should have only gotten 2 teams in the field.

Time to prove all the "so called" experts wrong...all are saying that we will be the first #1 seed to go after losing to uk

Any idea what time our round of 32 game will be? 7pm ish? Trying to get out of work early enough to see it.

I think we have a very tough bracket BUT you gotta play the best and win to be the best .... WE are to be feared IMO...... Bring em on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish good luck to my friends here. Hopefully we'll meet. But......

I don't think either of us should worry about any other game than our next one. This is the tourney. One game and you're gone.

Quit your whining. Every single one seed's fan base is claiming and has claimed the same from day one. Waaaaa the committee hates us. Waaaaa its a conspiracy to make sure we dont win a title, waaaaaaaa they're all abc'ers. Lol. I mean really.

Couldn't disagree more. X is a very solid team and WV is the best 3 seed in the tourney. We're in possibly the toughest region. And UK is loaded with NBA level talent.
You guys are not making much since. Hoped and prayef for Villanova as a 2. Got an equal or worse team as a 2 and say they make the bracket hard.

IMO, I don't think we have the toughest bracket. Given our play defensively leading up to the tourney, I'll gladly take our guys and play every team that wants a piece. I've got a little bit of Brice and Meeks with some Hicks on top if you're hungry. Then you can wash that down with Berry and Paige. Maybe a shot of Jackson to end the night.

What a great FU to our haters if we win it all.

Yep and everyone likes to talk up Tom Izzo and Mich St... saying he ALWAYS has them ready to play. Izzo won 1 NC and that was 16 years ago. Since 2000 the Spartans have as many final-fours (4) as first-round losses (4). Yet Izzo ALWAYS has them ready to play...

MSU is a tough matchup and they're maybe stronger than in the past few years, but come on.

I thought I'd run this by you. I believe that FGCU, Farleigh Dickenson, Holy Cross and a few others in the play in games are conference tournament champions.

I'm looking for other opinions on this, but it has always been my feeling that automatic qualifiers should never have to participate in the play-in games. I just feel like they did exactly what they had to do to get into the tournament and are being punished for it.

I understand that many (if not most) of the automatic qualifiers are worse teams than just about all of the at-large teams, but it seems to me they were given a task of winning their conference tourney and accomplished the goal. They should not be forced to play-in to the tournament. I feel that the lowest rated at-large teams should be in the play-ins. Just my opinion though.

I completely agree. Winning your conference tournament should put you in the field of 64 - you shouldn't have to play in to the field. The 11 seeds are usually the end for the at large teams, right? Then 12-16 are filled with small conference champs. They should make the last 8 at large teams play the play-in games to be the four 11 seeds.
