I'm sure if he was here and speaking honestly he would tell us that the last few years with the controversy over academic potential scandal has been incredibly hard to deal with on a personal level. Not only with his integrity questioned but with visits to recruits having to answer to the Cal and K statements that UNC was an hour away from being banned from tournament play. I want to give a shout out to Roy who has carried himself with honesty and devotion to making sure this program was harmed the least possible way. I have heard him state on multiple occasions that he was disappointed with the academic situation but never wavered from his belief that the basketball program was not the problem. It is quite impressive that as much as he has gone through to hold his head up high and give his all to the players that believed in him. Truly remarkable. There is not a single other coach that I would want for this team. I hope that somehow when Roy puts his head down on the pillow tonight that he realizes what he has accomplished with this team, this University has been such a remarkable achievement. He is truly one of the best in the history of college basketball and more importantly, he is a wonderful individual. My hat is off to this man who has guided the program so remarkably well through the most difficult times.
