SI article 3 doz teams in trouble

“When this all comes out, Hall of Fame coaches should be scared, lottery picks won’t be eligible to play and almost half of the 16 teams the NCAA showed on its initial NCAA tournament show this weekend should worry about their appearance being vacated.”

Let's play a game.

6 or 7 of the top 16 are implicated. Which 6 or 7.

Hint we know 2 of them.

Auburn and Arizona

The other 14 are

Virginia
Villanova
Purdue
Xavier
Cincinnati
Duke
Kansas
Ohio State
Mich St
Oklahoma
UNC
Texas Tech
Clemson
Tennessee

I think Virginia Villanova Xavier Cincinnati Texas Tech ohio state are likely clear.

I think Kansas is likely guilty.

I err towards guilty on Tenn Clemson

Gun to head

6 guilty
Auburn
Arizona
Kansas
Tennessee
Clemson
Purdue

Who do you guess?
Auburn (No doubt in my mind)
dook
Arizona
Kansas
Tennessee
Oklahoma

Not going to speculate. Speculation seems to be like crack cocaine these days, very addictive. It's taken the place of real news. Same reason I won't speculate on Jalek's situation.

I will say this. I do not believe Roy would participate in the kind of shenanigans. I would like to believe that the LOM wouldn't either, but I wouldn't put anything past Capel. I have serious suspicions about several of the other programs bur I will keep them to myself and let the chips fall where they may.

Let's do it like they are potential NCAA teams

Locks:
Auburn
Arizona

Likely:
Kansas
Duke
Clemson
Michigan State
Oklahoma

On the Bubble:
Ohio State
Purdue
Tennessee
Cincinnati
Xavier

No Shot:
Villanova
UNC
UVA
Texas Tech

Not a top 16 team and not a school you would usually consider in something like this but Vandy has several top recruits looking at them the last few years. Also wouldn't say Cincy or OSU are definitely innocent.

Trying to figure out how making an observation of something that is different from what is was historically is a knock on my character. You're telling me if you put on say, a Georgetown game and saw a bunch of white guys on the court you wouldn't think to yourself "damn, when did Georgetown start getting all these white dudes?" don't be the PC police
When you are questioning behavior as "dirty" and then go directly to "getting elite recruits, especially the black ones" and then go to the always chicken shit "let's just call it like it is". Yeah, that's how. But, I could be wrong...lol

Baylor

Why Mizzou? Because they got Michael Porter Jr and his brother when they hired his dad? Porters aunt - Robin Pingeton - has been the women's coach there for years and the family is from Columbia, MO. Or because they won 8 conference games combined the last three years because of all the high quality recruits they we're getting?

You put forward a strong case/list. Cinci from nowhere to #6 in the country or is it me?
KU better get ready. Nova or Xavier? Auburn and 'Zona are toast. Those Miller boys are something...Jericho, you didn't mean to leave off that bunch from up 15/501 did you?

Read that "someone familiar with the investigation" said that if all this stuff were released prior to selection Sunday we would see UT-Chattanooga on a two line....
I think Cincy is just benefitting from a weak conference.

I'm guessing this article is somewhat exagerratng to get come clicks. That being said, there will be some programs affected. In the end the NCAA is going to try to hide as much as it can because some of their marque programs will be effected.

If the article is right and there are that many programs involved, what would the NCAA do. It would essentially destroy basketball for a couple of years? I have zero concern with UNC. Their name will be tossed around by media, but most media are too dumb and lazy to do their homework. If Duke or NC State is not implicated, then the NCAA is hiding something.

considering our last Top 5 recruit was Harrison Barnes all the way back in 2009 I'm not really worried about whether or not Roy was buying players, clearly we're not gonna be one of the teams listed. I'm not sure what they will be able to prove, but it's obvious Dook is dirty. A plethora of elite recruits (especially the Black ones, sorry let's call it like it is) didn't just one day decide it was the "cool" thing to go to Dook

how many 5 stars are on the current roster???

how can you say that when he absolutely participated in the academic fraud scandal[/QUOTE]

Wrong.

And go **** your self dookie bitch, troll.

Because the hired Frank.

Um, yeah, reading this morning, as well, that ol' Roy isn't worried about the FBI.

Roy flat out says UNC is not involved.

Compare that to what Bill Self says about the FBI widening the investigation, "We're obviously all concerned for our profession," Self said. "I do not have any information to comment one way or another. Like I said, I hope the reports are not accurate, but whatever is found out, we'll deal with it, and we're going to do all we can to make it better so we don't have to put ourselves in a position to be looked at in this manner again."

Uh oh Jayhawks fans. I read that as a confession of sort. Yet another GDTBATH!

Like I said before, the results of this investigation could be a major black eye for the sport at the present time, but it could ultimately be the catalyst to change the sport for the better over the long term. In a way, it's like the steroid scandal in baseball in the mid-2000's. It was all over the news at the time, but the media attention eventually fizzled out. And while the sport isn't totally clean of PEDs today, it's not nearly as wide spread as it was in the 90's.

Hopefully the punishments resulting from this investigation will help make the sport better.

The punishments won't change anything. The system needs to change. Moving to the Olympic model which allows these athletes to market themselves would help greatly.

I agree, and also allowing the top elite talent to go pro out of high school would solve a lot of the recruiting issues. A 0 and 2 system would really benefit college hoops. Yes, recruiting would a little tougher for UNC since the OAD teams would then be targeting the guys we go after since the elite guys would jump straight to the pros. However, the OAD rule was established in 2006 and the Heels won 4 National titles (57, 82, 93, 05) before then. UNC will always be able to get the talent they need to compete for championships.

If you told me that players on our team got money from a booster or just fans of program. I would prolly look down, and keep walking because some people think of 500/1000 bucks as nothing and I am not naive enough to pretend this hasn't happened before.

Love our teams over last few years, but dang even the most loyal fans have shacked there heads over not landing the top guy/guys. If we are paying for guys to come here then maybe we need to have a fund raiser cause it ain't produced multiple top 10 guys in a little while.

Coach Rat, look I just don't like the guy, but I would be just as surprised if his program is involved. You want to know why K is getting the studs? He is one of the head guys of USA basketball, young players as early as 13-14 are involved in USA basketball. It is a great program and allows kids to visit other countries at a young age, and the instructions and competition put kids on a direct path to professional basketball. With all that being said, K would have to be the stupidest person I have knowledge of if he ever paid someone to attend puke.

Just like we seem to have missed out on top guys when we were under investigation, watch us get the top talent again when the chips fall.

We just don't have to pay guys to come to UNC our national TV exposure is ridiculous and we win a lot!

Schools that strike me as being in trouble will be those that seem to actually be average, but some how get one big time recruit yearly but nothing else. Oklahoma, NC State, Arizona, UCLA, Texas. Roy and rat face legacy is good even if they never win another title. Pointless for these "old" guys to pay.

So, Miami offered Little 100k to come to Miami by Augustine, then Miller at Zona offered him 500k...he chose UNC.

New information:
However, one set of charges were dropped this week, those on Augustine, according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach. ESPN’s sources indicated that evidence in Augustine’s case showed that he never gave money to the family and instead kept the money for himself.

Schlabach used the word "blue bloods" to further sharpen the description of who would be implicated when the information becomes public.

I guess we are going to have to wait til the trial starts on October 1st to know any more than we do now. Hey at least it shouldn't take nine years...

No but I hope if UK, dook, and state are involved the NCAA takes a while decade like it did with us... Then let them try that we were punished hard enough just from losing recruits due to the investigation line they were so fond of poopooing away on us

He chose UNC after the FBI arrested the guys who were facilitating the Miami and Zona deals.

If you ask anyone in recruiting before it broke, he was going to Zona.
True. I’m glad we got Little but it really was by default. Carolina was not getting him until the FBI sting happened.

No one is a "lock" to not be involved, no one. Y'all are saying that top guys not going somewhere means they are clean, nope it doesn't necessarily. Louisville wasn't getting any one-and-dones, and they were paying players. USC wasn't getting any one-and-dones, and they were paying players.

Bottom line is we don't know who was or was not involved.

This is a very detailed investigation with a multitude of information to decepher. So, this will take a while for the FBI and NCAA to get their hands around. But, hopefully they get it done before the tourney so we don’t have another title vacated.
