So Chazz to OLB is formal now

I think the concern here with surratt is not his willingness to learn the position or his athletic ability to adjust, but moreso his ability or lack there of to stay healthy while playing LB. going back to the tail end of his Hs career, he struggled with contact and subsequent injuries. We’ve seen that trend continue at UNC trying to play QB. The key here will be if he can stay healthy.

And Nathan Elliott just left the program. Totally different QB room this year.
Sadly, that seemed inevitable. I hope he finds a good fit somewhere else. I do appreciate all his efforts; he certainly appeared to play to the best of his ability, and definitely put the Heels in position to win more games than they did.

His HS injury was a dislocated elbow from falling and trying to brace himself... Wasn’t really a result of getting hit too much

his injury last season wasn't a concern either, imo. just a dumb attempt to tackle someone after a pick - when his head was clearly somewhere else. and he took a beating 2 years ago before shutting it down.

This can’t be overstated. He wants to get into coaching. I wish him nothing but the best.

“North Carolina head coach Mack Brown has one less quarterback to work with in his return to coaching. Nathan Elliott is leaving behind his final year of eligibility and moving on from North Carolina. That extra year of eligibility will not be needed either, as Elliott will reportedly be taking a graduate assistant gig with Arkansas State.”

He probably could be a stud at the 1AA level. Would have loved to see him playing at App state or somewhere like that before moving on to coaching

App St was in the top 25 last season and finished in the top 30ish - they were much better than us last season. not sure if their QB graduated, if not there's no way nathan beats him out. if so, not sure what their backup situation is.

I can’t remember their QB’s name, but that kid was pretty good. For sure, He could’ve started at UNC last season over what we had available.

He's back. We'll face him in kenan - he's really good. One of their few losses occurred when he missed most of the gm to injury.

I just dont see why he isnt a strong safety. Dude does not need be involved with offensive linemen at all. If he is tough or not isnt the issue. durability is the issue. Dorn is gone after this year and safety needs to be smartest person on out defense.

Football has changed since you were in high school - teams don’t really play with a “strong safety” per say but usually a “left” and “right” so as to facilitate lining up quickly against tempo.

That guy would get roasted trying to cover downfield against top WRs. Good athlete for QB and good athlete for DB is night and day.

What did ya'll think of Chazz? Looks like one of the best 4 interior lb. Maybe isn't saying a ton considering that lack of depth, but he looked speedy once he knows where he is going. If his instincts (initial reaction) are right, he might be decent.

Love the move. He's smart and def trust him under the tutelage of Bateman. Think he's going to surprise a lot of people.

He is not yet fully comfortable playing LB - but he will get there. With more experience, he will stop thinking about all the new stuff he is learning, and then when it clicks, his speed will make him a very tough LB. We need it to click early this coming season.
