use a timeout? Annnd let's wait till LOSING time to instruct your team to play killer-lock down defense? Really?????
Sure the usuals didn't shoot well at all, that happens. But what should never happen is outdated anchiENT history coaching!!!

ITS time for new blood with new ideals!!!

Sorry guys not beefing with you about this but we have to win games that we SHOULD win!

The trend is we have NO "clutch"coaching when games are tight! None!! Incredible!

All I will say is even middle school basketball teams have a set baseline inbounds play.
No coaching and execution at all

Not sure what Roy could have told the team to do in a TO he didn't tell them in a media TO. Attack the zone, stop making terrible passes, stop missing layups, pay attention to your man, etc... I bet anything he told them all those things over and over. It doesn't seem reasonable to think they would have listened just because Roy called the TO instead of hearing it when they did.

Let's face it coryfly, unlike all other coaches across the country, including the NBA, RW is the only one who doesn't use timeouts as a tool to win games. Unless forced with a media TO, he simply will not call a timeout.
IMO if he had called a TO immediately after Page hit that double clutch-3, we win that game. Same thing with this years Kentucky game. But, unfortunately, because of his stubbornness or his inability to strategicly use TOs, if we are not winning by 8 or more points- TROUBLE!!!!

I think there are some games where the TO argument is valid (in those same games the argument to not use it is also valid though). I make it at times. In this game, I don't see where it is even valid though. Our players were missing layups, wide open threes, not grabbing loose balls, and not attacking the zone. A timeout doesn't help that.

There was a timeout after Paige's 3 in the NCG, what game were you watching? Lol

Getting upset about dropping a game in the middle of the season is pointless, especially with this group, as most of the veterans on this team have proven over their careers that they tend to sleep through a couple games and dont always show up, specifically Hicks, Meeks, and Britt. Yeah it can be frustrating, but this team proved last year in March and this season vs Wisky and UK that they can turn on a switch when it really matters. Im not worried, this team is a 2 seed at worst and you just gotta enjoy the ride and believe when tourney time rolls around theyll be ready.

Yeah, I don't remember who called the TO last year after that shot but there was definitely a stoppage of play by one of the teams. I just ignored that part of the post though, haha. Didn't figure it mattered.

Damn did he call a TO after that 3?? Lol...I must be tripping!
For the most part I agree with you; however, we cannot afford to lose to weak@!# teams and expect to be seated as a 2, or even a 3 for that matter.

Yes you are right nothing was working, but a timeout could have at least disrupted their momentum...giving us a better chance to get the W.

Roy's teams always have a WTF conference loss. Even the championship teams didn't go undefeated. I'm not going to worry about this one right now. So far everything is turning out just like it normally does. No need to freak out unless we start playing like this for multiple games.

That's probably true. TBH, I was happy we didn't have one of those type losses in the OOC. Georgia Tech is really, really bad though, lol.

And the "Cop-Out of the year Award" goes to tarheel0910. Congrats Sir!!!
The "flu bug" excuse is probably more deserving though.

Boys didnt show up. Happens to everyone. Body of work shows we're much better so i aint skeered.
This year my kid worked his arsh off just to complete his first semester at UWF(Pensacola FL). A freaking struggle and a half but the reason he made it through is because he showed up...EVERYday.
To be giving a free ride to attend Dream School UNC you freaking not only show-up every day, you show-out every day!

Heard Gminski and Brando say the Heels looked a step slow...but take a peek at the box score, we didn't shoot well at all, we turned the ball over all game, and the FT/foul discrepancy was stunning.
As heelmanwilm said, our boys didn't show up. It happens in athletics.
When our guys do film study they will be very disappointed in their effort.

Last I checked every member of our team was still eligible to play for UNC so that means each member of this team successfully completed their last semester as well. So I guessed the team members all showed up every day academically just as your son did. Get back to us when your son becomes a D-1 athlete and plays at his peak every game of his season and you may have something to relate this to, til them, it is a miss.

Spot on man, it drives me crazy but it is the truth, all the sudden out of no where we will throw a clunker out there and I never see it coming. Now this one was especially ugly, usually it is a team that just plays way over its head but IMO that was not what GT did, was more that we stunk the place up.

We were not as good on 50/50 balls, couldn't make a proper entry past to the post in their zone to save our collective lives, only late in the game did we drive the seams in the zone and JJ was the only one committed there...we stunk it up is right David.

As bad as Carolina played no one has given GT any praise for the way they ran the Princeton offense shooting layup after layup after back cuts and give and go plays and they either scored or went to the line. How many shots did they block in the paint and how many steals did they have when the Carolina's big men had the ball down low. How great was their three two defense that made UNC shoot way too many bricks from the outside. How was GT able to go to the rack anytime they wanted and Carolina could not. How did GT win more than their share of 50/50 balls and why did Berry and Jackson act like a magician and disappear offensively most of the game. I cannot except the flu bug as a excuse because if your aspirations are to play in the NBA you have to show up regardless. The bottom line is this very young GT team probably played their Super Bowl Game yesterday and they won because of hustle and they wanted the game more. It is hard to give credit to a opponent but let's be fair here GT found a way to win both offensively and defensively.

Nice to be perfect, I will never get there.
