13 turnovers against an un-athletic BC team and arguably the worst in the conference and they shoot 40.7% and we shoot 50% and we barely win. A 7' statue gets 13 rebounds and controls the boards. Just a pathetic performance at least it won't go down as one of the most embarrassing loses in UNC history

I'm not panicking. I just don't look for much more than a Sweet 16 showing. I'm not sure which round of the ACCT we go out. I'm not expecting the #1 seed in either tourney.

This team has so many problems right now. And I cannot understand why Brice didn't start. Meeks and JJ deserved being benched due to recent play but Brice has been our most consistent post player all year.

I'm not panicking. I don't even know what panicking means in a basketball context. Stay up all night worrying? Find all sorts of ways to trash the team? Convince myself that they aren't worth watching, can't correct their issues, are done as a team? Throw and break things?

I don't think anyone should sugar coat or deny the issues, but what can panicking do about it? When is it ever "time to panic?" Regardless of the situation, panic never helps anything, is always guaranteed to make things worse.

I'm not grinding on you personally,58.

There are plenty of reasons for concern. But I have 100% confidence that the team recognizes the issues, and will do all they can to resolve the issues. Remember, its their full time jobs, and the coaches have been doing this all their lives. And this is the most important thing right now in these kids' lives, I'd guess, for most of them. And the last shot for Brice and Marcus.

So I hope and bet none of them are panicking. And I know for sure panicking does not one bit of good for any fan.

Ahhhh. Panicking is used more for effect than anything else. But if you don't see the issues with this team well.... Everybody said once Paige gets on track.... Once Justin gets on track... well they have both played much better and we lost to a ND team who was not hitting 3's and almost to a BC team who is the worst in the conference and we continue to turn the ball over.

Stats aren't everything. Was it 7 of those turnovers that were offensive fouls? Many of those highly questionable calls. "Statue"? That's an exaggeration.

No reason to panic, at all.

Every team has "issues"

SMDH.

I did not get to watch the game. Was there and lobs thrown down by brice or hicks? Honest question. Just seems really stagnate lately and i cant remember many thrown in the past few games. When we are rolling "not as of late" they are communicating much better.

ND won due to a massive ref rape of UNC and those 17 extra FTs they were granted. Hard to "rebound" or play D when every move you make is whistled as a foul. And we STILL could have won had we shot the ball just a little better.

Is it not at all possible this team is more focused on the bigger picture and overlooked a weak team on the road. I wasnt happy with the performance but they still overcame a halftime deficit with pretty rare other factors and won a road game in the ACC. I know BC sucks but there's no "easy" wins on the road in February in the ACC

Here come the sunshine boys
No sunshine, I'll also say that was a crap performance.
But.
The team still managed to win it somehow with a very strong run in the second half.
And yes, Justin looked much better, so to 'second half Marcus'
So the question is: Was that a glimmer of hope or the last twitch of a dying fish on the dock?
I actually don't know, so I won't panic. I'll just watch the games and see what happens.

This team has obviously been struggling. It pitiful people can't vent their concerns without others bashing them for it. Of course we want the heels to win it all. Struggling for a game or two is natural. But this has been going for a bit of a stretch. I would not say panic, but very concerned. The more this team struggles and loses this time of year then the harder our tourney position will be. We are not playing like a championship team at the moment

We have proven we can be beat, and proven we can play. We have been jekyll and hyde this season and we need to stop that. This core group has a history of struggling and has lost a lot of games in their time at UNC. They have a chance to put all naysayers to bed and come out on top. It's not the coaching staff nor the refs that have put us in this position. It's up to the players at this point. They simply need to buy into roys system again, clean whatever skeletons they are out the closet and start winning again.

Not sure exactly but it seems that every team we have played since conf play began has been coming off a loss. When you consider that the league may have eight teams in tourney (9 if Louisville eligible) it means we have been going against some teams playing with their backs to the wall. Rest of the season is brutal so Heels have chance to limp into tournament or be playing with ton of confidence. The flaws I have seen are correctable IF guys start playing the way they have shown they can. Not as much "can they do it" as it is "will they do it"

Not me. I am actually excited to see how they build off this finish. I saw a JJ, Marcus and Joel B get their swagger back going down the stretch of this game.

Not panicking.

It's mid-February and we have four losses. That was an ugly game and we've been in a slump - mostly due to not getting the job done on defense and rebounding, although certainly getting some more outside shots to fall would help.

But I'm just enjoying the ride and looking forward to seeing how well these guys can pull it together down the stretch and how far they can go.

This is a good team. This ain't 8-20.

If that makes me a "sunshine boy" then make me a badge, I'll wear it proudly. It's a game, and the other teams out there on the floor want to win just as badly, and you know what, some of them have pretty good players. If you expect the Heels or any team to just blow through the competition every game and cruise to the championship, you're just setting yourself up to be disappointed.

The team did not play well, granted. There were more offensive fouls called than I have ever seen in a game. Roy took a tumble and we beat a team that out-shot, out hustled and was able to shoot 3 more ft's than we did. No panic here, many years or watching young men struggle to find their role and live up to their potential. I would like to see the fifth championship of my lifetime but if not, the sun will rise and I can look forward to next year.

No reason to panic, just face reality, this team isn't that good, there appear to be major chemistry problems. Expectations were high at the beginning of the year. Those need to be readjusted. The only way this team wins any kind of championship is if every other teams quits. Been the same thing year after year since the 2009 team. I don't what is wrong, but its fairly obvious this program is not going anywhere anytime soon.

I've learned over the years not to panic in any sport. It doesn't help when a player panics and it certainly doesn't help when a fan does. Just try to enjoy what you can.

These comments I bolded aren't over the top. Nope, not at all. Completely rational. Though ranked #9, we're really #300-something. And we've totally sucked since 2009. Including 2012, when we were an injury / a game from going to the title game.

I don't get too high or low in terms of Carolina basketball anymore.....Guess the older you get the more you realize that it's just a game played between kids, and there's no sense in getting my blood pressure out of whack!

The main thing that got me to feeling uneasy last night was when Roy was helped to the locker room....That had me a little worried at the time, but glad that he's going to be OK....However, I don't remember him leaving the court before with his vertigo problem, so that is a little concerning moving forward...

Was also glad to see JJ step up and make some big shots last night, but I am concerned with our Seniors Paige and Johnson with both guys missing gimme shots and free throws late in the game.....Now, that's something to be concerned about at the moment, but I ain't going to Panic!

Let me see now, don't they still call those "almost lost" games still a win, do they not still go in the column that has the heading "W"?

I am not paniced at all, sorry but I am not.

First, I didn't see this game but maybe it is good I didn't, but there are some things I do know about it. I know we shot 50% for the game, I know we didn't shoot enough shots. I know as much as I see folks talking about the BC kid going off on us that he scored 26pts but did so on 30% shooting? I know home teams get home cooking most of the time, sounds like there was a fair share of that to the BC advantage. They scored what, 61pts on us, 61 points does not scream bad defense to me, the fact that we shot 50% and didn't score but 65pts, unhelped by the free throw line is a concern.

There was a fella who called for a lineup shake up a couple days ago, who was that again, oh yeah, it was me. Now not starting Brice, didn't see that one coming but Brice has not been much on the defensive end lately. I absolutely saw JJackson and Meeks sitting coming and glad to see it happened! CLEARLY JACKSON GOT THE MESSAGE! That is why you do it folks. Meeks with no offense and Clifford torching, yep, clearly meeks didn't get it, needs to remain coming off the bench. 7 rebounds is OK I guess but being totally uninvolved with the offense isn't.

Saw lots of folk upset with Theo's play but the box score does not look like he had a bad game, OK, so could have done without the 3 treys, he has to get that memo, you are open cause they want you to shoot it, don't shoot it. But other wise looks like the kid had a solid game. Marcus hit a couple big time game on the line treys, more like the Marcus of old and now JJackson is coming back, this game should really help his mojo.

But tell you a big reason I am not paniced, we are coming off 3 hard road games, lots of travel time. Think about it, long road trip to Louisville, followed by a long haul to NB last saturday and now all the way up to BC. geez, why not schedule Miami in there for sat in Miami? LOL My point, that is a lot of traveling playing 3 teams that were all coming off losses, that were amped up to show they can play this game in front of their home fans, and yeah, enjoying some home cooking as well. Traveling like that wears kids down and if you are worn down a little bit and you get in front of those hostile crowds and the opposing team is amped because of it, there begins to be a little blood in the water.

Finally we now get back home for a set of games, we get to practice & rest as opposed to practice and travel. You guys can tell me about the BC game but vs ND and Lville I thought they looked a little tired. And ya know, especially tired bigs, reach rather than move their feet, can find foul trouble from that, did ya see any of that last night? Folks worry because this was just BC, they suck, we beat them by 20+ earlier, yeah but they are still a ACC program, they are still at home, they are still in front of their fans screaming for them, they still got their home cookin, slept in their own beds, practice all the time on the court they played on, and were not on the road for the last 3 games playing teams coming off losses.

Finally we are back home and these kids can get settled, the good news is we got Marcus back vs ND and last night it seems we finally got Jackson back, now we need to put all the parts back together and I think we will. I suspect practice will not be fun this week, it shouldn't be...

Ditto. Not even close to being panicked.

We're still the most talented team in America, we will be a force come March.

It may be me, but following Roy going to the locker room/timeout, the kids "seemed" to come back out and just focus on the task at hand. I know one of the TV guys mentioned that they seemed a bit off in warm ups. It happens, thankfully they ALL did not sleep walk the entire game. But the last 6-7 minutes they did seem to focus.
As to turnovers, our '05 and '09 teams had about 10 a game in their Championship seasons. I haven't looked at the box but I thought I saw with around 13 late second half for the Heels.

Brice needs to stop acting like a big baby and needs to quit griping and start playing some dang defense! Period!
QFT

Brice has 3 fouls. Guy gives him a head fake 18 feet from the basket and Brice joins the paratrooper club, picks up his fourth, and has to sit. Plays like that from a Senior just kill our rotation.

David with his usual brilliance...

whenever I read or hear about us going down the tubes and all the rest of the negativity that is cataloged in this thread, I am reminded of a team that GUT actually coached cannot remember the exact year..

Anyway THAT team LOST in the first round of the ACC tourney. and EVERYONE bailed on them ...they stink ,have no hear,t cannot get it done on and on and on. The negativity was every where and overwhelming.

THAT team went on to the Final Four... lost to Utah I think

My point>>>>>>>> we are STILL a long ways away from a finished product.
I have seen countess UNC and NON UNC teams play GREAT in Jan /Feb and even early march, only to crash and burn come tourney time.

Look I am under NO illusions that we have played well of late and we played well last night. We have not and did not

Do I Like everything about the way some players have played and acted on the court recently with effort etc????........ NO!!!

However by NO means am I gonnna throw in the towel like far too many here seem to want to do

Make NO mistake... we have loads of room to improve and get better ,MUCH better

BUT I refuse to believe and will NOT believe that we are lost and hopeless... that we cannot get our form back. I am Not gonna go there and I think that is BS frankly.

We have a BIG game Sunday vs Pitt... a solid tough club. I expect the FANS to get up off their collectives a$$es and get behind this team, get behind ROY and get LOUD.

It is time for the team and the Fans to man up. I expect an impressive win this Sunday..and that is no pie in the sky.
