Been watching the women's softball teams for over the 5 years, even before Donna Papa retired. Granted the program was not very competitive with Papa, glad she decided to retire. Megan Smith has done wonders since leading this team the past two years, it's going to take some time before she will be able to get major talent in to catchup with the Duke's, Florida State and Clemson. But they are at least competing now, more so than before Megan Smith came aboard. Just give her a few more years, and they will be winning conference championships.
Updated the women's team, they won the series against Louisville. Currently the women's team is tied for 4th in the ACC with a 6-3 record, and overall they are 26-8. They have won 3 games in a row, with a weekend series against Syracuse. Need to sweep this series which is doable considering Syracuse is 1-8 in league play.
Refer back to my comments on March 17, 2025, it's going to take some time before Megan Smith have the players to complete with schools who have been dominating the ACC in softball for years.. The last two years with Megan Smith as coach has been better than the 10 years before she arrived, when UNC was in the cellar of softball.
Understandable but winning every now and then against good teams would be nice and show things are headed in the right direction
Duke has been one of the best team in the conference for some time. Florida State and Virginia Tech have awesome teams as well. Patience will be the best remedy in regards to the women's softball team, as stated give Megan Smith a couple of more years. Considering she started with not a lot to work with, a program which occupied the bottom spot of the ACC for years.
I understand that but would like to steal a win or two from the better teams on our schedule. Not just beat up on the average to below average teams.
They are heading in the right direction, they use to lose to average and below average teams.

UNC women's softball team won the series against GT today by a score of 8-3. Currently the team is tied for seventh in the ACC with a record of 10-8 in conference, and 32-13 overall record. They have eight games remaining in conference play before the ACCT begins.
I played baseball for a year at Methodist University in Fayetteville before I transferred to UNC Pembroke and played. One of my teammates was an All-American at Methodist, And his daughter is currently a senior on the softball team Carlie Myrtle. So I’ve been following a little more than usual. She had a double today and a couple RBI.

UNC women's softball team defeated NC State yesterday 2-1. Current record for the team is 11-8 in conference play and 34 and 13 overall, with six games left to play in the regular season before the ACCT.
UNC women's softball lost a close contest to NC State yesterday by a final score of 5 to 4. Series final game against State is today, let's hope the women can win the series. They have only 4 games remaining after State today, against Norfolk State, and a three game series to end the regular season at ND. Current record is 11-9 in Conference play and 34-14 overall.
UNC women's team won the series against NC State with a 5 -4 victory today. Winning pitcher Kenna Raye Dark ( 15-7 with an ERA of 3.67. Current record 35-14 overall, and 12-9 in conference play.
UNC women's team has won 3 games in a row, after defeating ND 9-1 yesterday. They have two games remaining on the regular season both against ND before the ACCT begins. Currently their record is 13-9 in Conference play and 37-14 overall. Megan Smith has the program headed in the right direction, before she arrived the program was in the dwellers of the ACC.
UNC women's team completed a sweep of the series against ND today by a score of 3-1. UNC finished the season at 15-9 in Conference play and 39-14 Overall.
