...during and surrounding the ACC Tourney.

"JP Tokoto just has one more floor on his elevator than everyone else."
(after jumping over Auguste Saturday for a rebound)

"I like Tokoto a lot better when he attacks the rim."
(following a bad pass turnover)

"Well, it certainly looks like Marcus Paige is feeling better."
(describing a sweet move for an acrobatic score)

"I really like this combination of Paige and Berry. It gives them two guys in the backcourt who can shoot and can also drive and make plays, which makes Carolina very difficult to defend."
(in the midst of a UNC scoring outburst keyed by the Guards)

Can't argue with any of that. Give me more Good-JP, more JB, and a bit less of the other Joel, and lessee what happens.

I suspect if JP had attacked the basket (and I mean ATTACKED) there would have been quite a few games that would have been a W instead of a L .

And a lot less Nate Britt. The kid is a liability.

Here is a good way to see a key part of the problem in terms of what we have. If we play Berry with Paige, we can't have both Tokoto and Jackson on the floor.

Or we could, if we go small, meaning very skinny Johnson is the 5, which means on D he will be ineffective or gather fouls.

But, we cannot ignore the fact that to get Paige and Berry together for a large part of the game is going to require fewer minutes for Tokoto or Jackson or both.

I guess we could cut out almost all minutes for Britt.

Having JP on the court less isn't that bad of an idea. Defensively he has not been what we all think he is. Since he has not been able to stop anyone on defense, his offense has become a liability. Play the 3 newbies as often as possible, give JJ 14 shots a game and let JB drive more. It may not satisfy us this year but it would be a confidence builder for them next year.

HUH? He has shut down some of the very best in the ACC!

Yes he has.

Tokoto has to be on the floor, for a team that has so many defensive liabilities, he is the one bright spot we have.

We just have to live with the possibility of him throwing a bad pass or committing a dribbling turnover. He's had some games with 7 assists and ZERO turnovers, couple steals and quite a few rebounds.

It is what it is with JP, ya gotta take the good with the bad with him and hope for the best.

I am absolutely fine with going stretches with one Big. It puts JP at the 4 (plus!) and it still matches us up with at least 80% of the teams in this tourney.
