Starting to get the sense the program is at a tipping point and things may be starting to unravel. When a program has taken so many hits(both on and off the court), the coach has one thing to fall back on to weather the storm. He has to fall back on his coaching ability to rally the team to execute to produce victories. Roy strength is not coaching execution otherwise this veteran laced team would be running like a well oiled machine. This team does not have confidence in executing Roys system. The system is as inconsistent today as months ago.
The 2016 recruiting class could be the true signal of a more serious downward spiraling direction of Carolina basketball. There are numerous elite players Carolina is recruiting hard in NC/SC. If we cannot pull in at least 2/3 of these 5 star players from our own backyard, Carolina will no longer be elite. Carolina is only as good as the eliteness of their recruits. We have 3 top 15 recruits as freshmen this year(they show little improvement).
From the new names appearing on the recruitment radar, it appears a backup plan is heating up over the last few months. Those new names may be a bad omen or maybe the just way its done. Carolina may be on the path of troubled waters for several more years, next year could be the 4th consecutive 10+ loss season. Never would have thought Carolina would drop out of the elite group.
