Started with the first movie tonight. All building up to next weekend. Already have my ticket

Are we all in agreement that Luke has to be the new Sith lord?

I don't think he would be unless he is suffering with multiple personalities. He went through to much to redeem anakin. Probably went a little loco and became a hermit like yoda and Ben kenobi

I'm planning to watch "chronologically" by going episodes I-VI. I'm so pumped for this new one. I have tickets for two showings in the first 24 hours. Should be awesome!

I've been watching them chronologically as well, which is nice because they more or less get better as you go (with a slight exception for ROTJ). Still have Empire this week and ROTJ next week before seeing the Force Awakens next Saturday (in IMAX 3D!). I've also been hoping that Luke's absence from the promos and trailers means that he has succumbed to the dark side.

I feel like I'm going to have to avoid the internet completely on Thursday and Friday.

heard jj abrams on howard stern last week...he didn't reveal much, but did say the "fall from grace" like in every movie, continues...lucas helped him with it in this one...and he said production is already starting for 8.

we're starting the binge watching tonight, in chronological order, although i can't stand phantom menace.

Some friends of mine hosted a Star Wars movie marathon on Saturday. Their house was their neighborhood's model home and was already set up to use one bedroom as a theater room. They upgraded the projector/screen and had somebody add two levels of risers. That allowed them to put in three couches, each one about 10 feet long, so there's plenty of room to sprawl out. We got a Chick-fil-A chicken mini tray for breakfast, ordered pizzas for lunch/dinner, and drank beer all day. It was freaking awesome.

We watched them in "Machete Order" where you completely leave out Phantom Menace. As the argument goes, there's very little from Episode I that doesn't get resolved during the movie or has significant implications for later episodes. So we ended up going IV, V, II, III, VI. The linked article describes some of the benefits, but my favorite part was the transition from III to VI and the way it framed the story as the redemption of Anakin Skywalker.

That sounds like a lot of fun, I saw some of the pictures on Twitter, haha. I've never done the Machete Order personally, but I have wanted to try it out. Maybe the next time I'm in a Star Wars mood, I'll do that.

I started my own watch a little late for one a day, so I have to double feature Episodes IV & V tonight to make up for it. Watched II & III last night. Also, a friend of mine in Durham said he didn't have anyone to see the new one with, and wasn't planning to go as a result. I told him that was an unacceptable reason to not see Star Wars, so I'm going to drive to Durham and see it a 3rd time this weekend as a result.

.

10 to 1 odds that was a sausage fest.

I'm gonna get blasted for this but here goes....

Let me first say that I love Star Wars. When I was a young kid, I'd wake up on Saturday morning, grab a pop tart and head to the basement to watch one of the three movies on surround sound while the rest of my family slept. It was an awesome way to start a day.

I also loved the new three -- like okay the Phantom Menace was kinda lame, but the podracing stuff was pretty cool IMO, and Darth Maul was a cool villain. IMO, Attack of Clones was actually the worst one.

I guess somewhere along the way, I got spoiled with how amazingly done the LOTR movies were done because I haven't watched the original three Star Wars in awhile......went back to try to watch them this week. I got like 25 minutes into ROTJ and I turned it off. I've never been a huge fan of ROTJ in general, but I don't know, it was just meh to me. I think what it is for me is I love A New Hope so dang much, that it carries my love of the series.

I have no plans to see the new one. Maybe I'll catch it after New Years.

May you find a new definition of pain and suffering as you are slowly digested in Sarlacc's belly over a thousand years.

Just finished all of them. Now I'm gonna stay away from starwars threads till I see the movie. When you see the new movie, review it here.

Saw the new movie last night, and am seeing it again at 1 this afternoon and at 5 tomorrow afternoon. It was awesome. I had considerable expectations and it met all of them. The new characters are great, the audience cheered whenever one of the old ones showed up, everything about it worked for me. There are definite parallels to the original trilogy without it feeling like fan service, and that's as detailed as I'll get so not to give anything specific away. I've always thought clapping after a movie was cheesy but I very sincerely clapped at the end of this movie, and it was the longest round of applause I've ever seen in a theater. It's my favorite movie of 2015, hands down.

Seen it last night! Don't want to spoil it for other people, so I'll just say that I really liked it!

The movie was good. Somewhat predictable minus the villians identification. I really did not feel Luke had turned to the dark side. Seems they needed to fill in a few blanks before this movie IMO. The movie picks up well after ROTJ but alot has transpired. Spent the better part of the movie trying to fill in the blanks. Almost felt like I had missed one of the movies. I give it a 7.5 out of 10. After reading most of the novels, I had a harder time separating myself than what I thought I would. Novels where much better IMO.

Just got back from seeing it in 3D. It was pretty awesome, but needed more lightsabre duels

Just saw it. Thought it was really good and stayed true to the original trilogy. None of that endless political blather that we got in the second trilogy. And no useless characters (aka Jar-Jar) or pathetic casting (Hayden Christensen). All the new actors were well cast and delivered solid performances.

I'd give it a solid 8, and will likely go see it again (which is something I never do).

Especially surprised that I didn't hear about the one big spoiler but sort of felt like it would be the case as the movie progressed.

The movie had a good feel to it. There are quite a few unanswered things that left some gaps in the plot. I hope the next movie fills these gaps better or they give better details in a novel. Seems the light sabers needed tuning. Never remember them sparking and flaring like that before. I had to watch it a second time to get a better appreciation for the movie. JJ Abrams style of mystery box plots doesn't seem to fit the star wars universe. That to me is a move away from the PT and OT feel.

Saw it on Christmas Eve. It was good, but way overhyped by Star Wars geeks. I like Star Wars but not completely in awe of it like some are. Needed more lightsabre battles, like many here suggested. I thought the acting was superb in this one, and I enjoyed the storyline. 3D makes this movie, by the way. I can't imagine seeing it any other way. I didn't understand what the big plot twist, spoiler, or whatever it was supposed to be was all about. Nothing was surprising. Did I miss something?

Am I alone in thinking Hayden Chistensen did a pretty decent job as Annakin?

I thought he did to. I am a hugh fan of the series . I also enjoyed all six movies. I thought it was funny when ren would have temper tantrums with his light saber. He is emotional like his grand dad was.
