Discussion
Ugly, Ugly, Ugly! This was one where you burn the game tape. If we add both teams' offensive efficiencies, we get 1.47, the second-lowest performace of the season (BC on 1/29 was the lowest with 1.41, ugh!).

Was it great defense or was UVA just awful. It was all UVA. One of the important stats to look at is UVA's assists per field goal. With a whopping 0.78 a/fgm, it was the 17th worst performance by UNC in restricting an opponent in the last 950 games, and the worst of the season for the UNC defense. (The 950-game average is 0.51)

While we showed more development on defense, the offense wasn't there. Shooting 38% wasnt good, but UNC moved the ball really well, so I'll chalk it up to a poor shooting night. UVA's chippy defense is disruptive to shooters, but they didn't get out and disrupt passing lanes. UNC had 0.68 a/fgm, a 78th percentile game. Excellent!

UNC dominated the boards, getting 10 more possessions than UVA in our slowest game played since last season's game at UVA. There were only 143 possessions in this game, and this team averages 159 possessions/game (program avg since 1996 is 169/gm)

The team shot a wonderful 78% from the FT line. Interestingly there were only 8 possessions that ended in 1-and-1s or 2-shots. The lowest total was 4 misc. trips in the game with Michigan this season. The average is 18.06. We've had single digit games 45 times in the last 950 games, with 9 coming this season.
