"It has been a great honor to be a part of this incredible University. I am extremely disappointed that I will no longer be UNC’s head football coach - I hate that it had to end this way.

"The last two seasons have been challenging and heartbreaking. The results are not what we wanted and it has been frustrating for everyone involved – coaches, athletes, fans and supporters alike. The results did not reflect the commitment and hard work put in by our players and staff. The players never quit – ever. That speaks to the character of this team and this great University.

"I wanted the opportunity to fix this. I wanted to make the changes necessary to win again. I also understand this business. I understand that you don’t always get the time you want to turn things around. I respect the administration’s position and understand their actions.

"I leave UNC grateful for the opportunity I was given seven years ago. I am thankful I had the chance to work with Chancellor Folt and Bubba Cunningham; I appreciate their leadership and friendship. My family and I will always cherish the time we spent and relationships formed here at UNC and in Chapel Hill."

I believe Fed did everything he possibly could to make UNC the program he hoped it could become. Unfortunately, like most of us, our dreams and expectations don't quite live up to that. Never the less, I wish him nothing but the best going forward. I've no doubt that he had nothing but the best intentions for UNC.
He needs to be Les Miles' OC at KU. They are both stubborn as an old mule and prone to river boat gambling. Neither has any clock sense. And each has some kind of hat thing going on.

I think he wanted to be gone from UNC as soon as possible. UNC was a rung on the ladder. That's perfectly fine, that's a common theme in sports. I think he wanted to get UNC as good as he could get it, and then get another job at a football school and what was left at UNC wasn't a huge priority.

Ever since I heard that AJ podcast, I'm totally through with Fedora. UNC isn't good enough for you? Fine, there's the door.

I’m trying to be gracious. I was born in a time when you didn’t rub people’s noses in the dirt, you just went your separate ways. I have no ill will towards Fed.

He's being treated graciously. I don't owe him anything, and he owes me nothing. I've never met the man. It's hard for me to rub his nose in anything when I'm not addressing him. I was responding to you by saying what I believe he actually did. I don't wish him any personal harm or anything. But, I'm glad he's leaving. As a lifelong fan, and former student, my allegiance is toward the school and its sports programs. He was looking for greener pastures and it didn't work out and he phoned-it-in and walked with 14 million bucks. If that's having your nose rubbed in the dirt, count me in! lol

I'll ask this here and probably on other threads as well. Let me preface this by saying I am only asking a question not defending Larry. I have questioned him like others have. Was just wondering if we had kept Fedora and insisted that he make some changes with the staff (new OC & DC coordinators) would it have made a difference? I would have loved for him to be successful but something just wasn’t right.

I think you are 100% wrong.

Probably. The reason why he was let go was recruiting finally started to fall off badly. If we had a decent class, he was probably given the opportunity to get a top DC
