I am not offended by any response to my post and hope to lighten up on my next posts. I have been a lurker here for a while, but this issue just pushed me over the top a bit. It seems many were blaming the accuser, with absolutely no facts to support it. I am finished on this topic. On to routing the team on to victory.

Some were blaming the accuser, but I tend to think the players were at LEAST 50% culpable. I also don't seem the situation to be "that bad." It was a fight. Fights happen at bars and at fraternity houses.....especially when pretty girls are around. I've seen it first-hand plenty of times (and not on a college campus, mind you). Fights happen. Do I want our players getting in fights??? Hell no. They need to be smarter than that.
I just don't see it nearly as big of a deal as say, domestic violence (looking at you Moo).
If you disrespect a dude, athlete or not and he kicks your ***. Thats a you problem. I know Mike and Mj. Mj other offense was a hazing act he did last year nothing serious. I'm tired of ppl making both of them esp Mj out to be criminals. No Mj isn't a thug, problem, etc he isn't on his last strike. He's a cool dude. He definitely loves himself alot but if you come across as disrespectful he will gladly put you in your place. Mike is just a happy go lucky dude. It's impossible to piss him off, he's to relax, calm, goofy but regardless I think this will be a valuable lesson to all parties involved
Actually, nah that's a legal problem bro. Verbal insults NEVER can be used as a legal defense for why you physically assault someone. Period. I mean I agree with you that if someone is talking **** and you fight them, then that's just you standing up for yourself. But as far as the law is concerned, you'd be in the wrong.
Also, no one really has to make them out to be criminals.....because they COULD BE criminals if they are found to have broke the law. That may seem like semantics, but I mean, at least in this circumstance, they could be criminals, pending court ruling.
However, I'm sure both will learn from this and move on though. Live and learn.
"disrespecting" has gotten totally out of hand as an excuse to fight , stab or even shoot someone. I hear some of the craziest shat called disrespecting. I am not putting more than 50% blame on our players(because I don't know what happened) but damn they have got to rise above the student body as a whole especially with us still under the microscope. They have a lot more to lose than the average student does.
Exactly. And again "disrespecting" is not a legal excuse to put your hands on someone. Doesn't matter what name they call you.
I agree. Mj and Mike are good guys. I know Mike's parents laid it to him. Im sure this won't happen again
Prisons are full of dudes whose sense of self respect is ridiculous. The most violent streets are likewise filled with such dudes. One of those dudes on the UNC football going just a nudge farther than assaulting someone will lead to major damage to the program, damage we cannot afford.
I would kick his ass for picking a fight that his ass couldn't handle and then letting his mommy make him press charges. I would probably want a DNA test to make sure he was really mine. But, then again, I AM old school. Not just a wolpfie pretending to be a UNC fan so I can rip on UNC.
To this point... I am shocked people are acting like MJ has a history... MJ was caught up in that "hazing" bullshit last year, that MULTIPLE people, here and on IC, gave the actually account of what happened. They DB's tossed ice on douche in shower, douche in shower came out swinging on 5 guys, douche got his ass beat down like he deserved. HE started it and then got his ass kicked. At which point douches mommy and brother raised a huge stink. Please note that douche is nowhere near the team this year. BTW, douches family claimed he was maimed/concussed/etc in that fight... until our lawyers produced pics of him the NEXT DAY after the fight, where you couldn't see a thing wrong with him, and he was practicing.
MY problem with that episode, is that MULTIPLE people warned the coach not to let douche walk on, that his family had a HISTORY of using lawyers to get their way with their sons athletic career, and trying to get coaches fired. That was just brain dead stupid by our coaches, and we paid for that stupidity.
That's what the 'great' town of Chapel Hill produces for ya...............

If the "douche" came out of the shower swinging on 5 guys was a beat down by 5 on 1 truly necessary? Hell! They could have just pinned him down although that could have been awkward if he was "nekkid" but fighting a "nekkid" guy is pretty awkward too(not speaking from experience). It sounds like the "douche" was wrapped a little too tight and those types are pretty easy to spot and you just need to exchange greetings with them and steer clear other wise.
