Surratt Out For The Season?

I hate to see guys get injured, but this might be a blessing in disguise in the long run. Should give us a chance to get the freshmen some real game experience for next year.

I really hope so. If Fed has any delusions of keeping his job I could see him living and dying with Elliott, but hopefully he makes the switch. Not banking on it though.
There's really no good reason to put Elliot back out there. Roll with the two freshman and see what you have for next year. You should be able to figure out which one is better in three games (Fortin got some burn in the ECU game) so you won't have to worry about the redshirt issue.

Fed’s best chance at keeping his job is to make it look like he’s taking the lumps to prepare for the future. Winning a few more games with Elliott doesn’t help him, and I’m pretty sure our odds of winning aren’t any higher with him out there anyways. But if one of the freshmen shows promise and the team looks like it’s developing then he may be able to shift the focus away from wins and losses.

True, but given how bad our QB play has been lately, you could make the argument that Fed should have known to start the freshman from day one. Not being able to spot the person who should play can be just as bad as his win total.

I completely agree with that. I think any promise from the young guys should be used as a selling point to bring in a higher profile coach. Our recruiting has been in shambles, but starting with a young talented QB is a great place to begin building talent. Trying to get a program going without a QB is like trying to win a game of chess witbout your queen on the board.

Sadly Fed doesn’t have to convince Bubba that he’s the best option. He just has to convince him that the benefits of firing him are less than the cost of his buyout. It looks even worse for Bubba considering he’s the one that pulled the trigger on the contract extension in the first place

Finally, with the receivers we have just hard top understand why we had a QB that didn't have the arm to allow our receivers a chance. Should have made this move after( or during) game 1, you simply must have an arm that can complete throws down field, especially in the offense Fed wants to play. Sure the kid has to learn and I would expect him to struggle at points but that is part of the learning process, you learn in games playing much more than you do by watching. I want to see Ruder get some time as well, at this point the season is toast anyway, why not let the young guys learn and mature and lets see what they are built for.

I doubt we see him ever play for UNC again...Truth be told he hurt is shoulder or arm his Senior year in high school and has never been the same imo...
Dislocation if the elbow IIRC.... Was nasty right before the state playoffs began

play the kids...this program needs development and experience all at once...we’re not trying to get a good draft pick, ffs.

Suratt and the negative destroy football agenda. All the kid needed was a rape case and he would have gone full circle. Got paid in school, check. Had several concussions, check. Concussions surrounding him were fishy and this injury seems fishy.

As stupid as it would be, I would not be surprised if Fedora were to decide to spare those freshmen from 'playing too soon.'

And it was that bad and Fedora still chose to make him the heir, come Hell or high water? So much so that even realizing he would have to dumb down the offense by 50% to play Surratt and bring in the useless Brandon Harris for a year, Fedora kept seeing Surratt as his next QB savior?

Just fire the idiot Fedora.
