Tar Heels vs Canes game thread

In the Spring game, Surratt, Elliott, and Byrd all looked roughly equal. Yet Fedora decided that tyhe LSU pice of crap would come in and start, and Surratt would be #2. And Eliliott and Byrd would have no chance to play unless injury opened a door.

Elliott looks to be at least as good an all around QB as Surratt, and that without hardly any practice even with the 2nd team.

Fedora doesn't know chicken shite about QBs.

If Elliott were given a half chance by that fool Fedora and his awful OC, he would show much better than Surratt.

3rd and 18 and we run a screen to the short side. Followed by a fake punt.

Putting your team in position to win is not a strong suit of this staff. (Sadly that’s the basis for any coaching success)

I like the fake even though it was too far to work. A coffin corner punt would have been better, but I doubt that was possible either.

Play calling. It aint a strength for us under Fedora.

Threw it way too short on the fake fg. Looked to have another receiver open further down the field.

At least it is not a 1st down, but it should have been at least 9-10 inches back.

Our D looks like a well coached, tough unit. They are good enough for the team to win 8 games.

2018 could be a lot better than many will be expecting if we can figure out the offensive woes and keep guys healthy next year.

Almost everyone on this defense will be coming back next year.

Surratt isn't nearly as good as Elliott.

I bet Byrd is also at least as good as Surratt.

Seems like the offense can drive down the field but then stalls at or near the red zone. 6-0 though.

It took a near fluke for the Canes to get in the end zone. We were a quarter of a step away from batting that ball down.

Well, that is a perfect example of the difference between Richt and Fedora. Richt can regroup at halftime and come back with some that can be devastating. Fedora is about doing the same thing the same way, because he knows it will work eventually.

Miami - rightly - has no respect for Brown as a blocker.

Any time in a 1 back offense you pass and the RB is not a receiver, if he is not a very good blocker, he is a major liability.

Our coaches seem not to care much about such fundamentals.
