Tell me about your favorite T-shirt

I have an Old Navy shirt I love. Their shirts are cheap as hell but very comfortable, which is all I care about. Not ever sure what it says. Of all the UNC shirts, a light blue one with a white interlocking NC is easily my favorite. I'm wearing it tomorrow.

I have several that have a special place in my heart - my 1993 Final Four shirt (that I break out only for major games - will be wearing tonight), my 1984 NYC marathon shirt that my dad got when he ran it, and one of my GWAR shirts because of my cousin's artwork.

But the cream of the crop is my Natural Light t-shirt that is at least 35 years old. It's white with red rings on the collar and sleeves and has the old Natty logo printed on the front. It's so old that it's basically translucent now and shows off my Phil Mickletits when I wear it. Yet there is not one single hole in it. It's really only appropriate for beach or pool wear at this point. But I stole this shirt from one of my sister's friends when I was in the 8th grade and it was really worn in at that point. So like I said, I'm pegging the age of this shit between 35 and 40 years old. It's a gem. I'll try to poast a pic of it later.

Did your cousin do some work for them or something?

Shhhh,...THN hates it when I tell the same stories more than once here. But it's obviously been a while since I mentioned this.

My cousin has been a non-instrument playing member of the band since the mid to late 80s. He was an art major at VCU when he quit school because GWAR was blowing up. If you're familiar with the band, then you'll know of "the Slave Pit". The slave pit is basically all the artist that create the props for their shows, costumes, etc. He's the shop foreman. He's been the main character in a couple of their videos throughout the years. In addition to his work with GWAR, he creates costumes for haunted houses (sells them for a ton of money), creates custom bikes, details cars, sculpts, etc. Check out his website is below.

I have a ton of his shit around my home. I have this cement troll in a natural area of my yard.

Then I have the below illustrations framed and hanging in my house:

I also have some illustrations that he gave me when we were much younger - before his days with GWAR. He actually had his own comic book when he was in high school and I have a couple of those too.

My current favorite is below. Very comfortable, can be paired with a UNC ball cap, and resistant to wrinkles and stains. I also like the look on people's faces when they see it.

I probably have too many past favorites to list here.

That's pretty cool. I saw them in concert a long time ago. It was a good show.

I'll make a note to ask again in a few months.

I have three favorites...

one like this I bought from NYSE gift shop around 1989...faded, comfy, perfect...my wife wore it a lot when we were dating...and then she saw my daughter in it a few years ago and yanked it and now in keepsake box in the attic.

Speaking of cool shirts from Chapel Hill, I used to have the sweetest He's Not Here shirt. They must have participated in a men's soccer league at some point in the late 70s or early 80s and made shirts for their team. Because the shirt I had was a logo of a cow with the body of the cow being a soccer ball (logo located on the left breast) and on the back in large letters it read "He's Not Here". It was white with dark blue rings on the collar and sleeves. Very obscure shirt and I loved it because it was really worn and thin. But I haven't seen in 10 years or so. Don't know what happened to it. But honestly, it was getting a little young for my fat ass anyway.

I remembered another one. I once had a really cool Ole Miss shirt - the old Rebel logo. Sort of like the pic below. Ol' Rebel is one of my favorite logos of all time.

Seriously though, I love the old gray cotton tshirts with the CAROLINA across the chest. Simple and classic. I've owned damn near 20 of those things in my lifetime.

I have a few that I really like.

I got 3 varieties of the BFM shirt from the Chive (the one below, one with 3D glasses on, and one that is red and white on a blue shirt)

I have 3 different "political" shirts from the 3 elections I've been eligible to vote in, my 2016 option is below. In 12, I had a "Stewart/Colbert 12" shirt, and in 08, it was "Jack Bauer 08."

I have a number of UNC shirts that I really like and wear on a regular basis, so it's hard to single out one specific favorite. There's one I'll attach just because it's not an "official" one but I wear it often

Had one with Lynda Carter and another with Farrah Faucette on them back in the day. Two mighty fine looking women.

I've got dozens from the blood center, some are pretty cool.

One from Lulu's in Gulf Shores AL, has "Peets' Philosophy " on back, her
8 tips for a better life.

I have no idea what any of this means lol.
Every time I donate blood I get a t-shirt, some are pretty nice
.
Lulu's is a bar/restaurant In Gulf Shores AL, owned by Lucy Buffett (Jimmy's sister) "Peet" was their mother.
Her "philosophy":
1.Read often, including the classics.
2.Accept everyone for who they are, not what they do.
3.Be well traveled.
4.Learn to be a listener.
5.Live by the sea.
6.Listen to your spirit and find joy
7.Education, like money, doesn't make you happy-but it sure helps
8.Love and family are the best things we have.
I also have two of the One love one ocean shirts like Buffett wore at the "oil spill"
concert in Gulf Shores in July '10.
