Temple Coach Geoff Collins Favored for GT Job

Maybe GT will throw more than 9 times a game now.

ETA: 114 passes in 12 games this season; completed 51. Avg 4/9 passing per game. sheesh

I can't believe they didn't hire PJ's boy Monken and keep that 1940's offense rolling along.
The Wishbone was invented, or rather formulated, in 1968, but what PJ ran does have characteristics of 1940s single wing option offense that was morphing into Wing T option offense.

GT won't stick with the triple option because of fans: it does not draw and keep fans in any number, and hasn't since about 1975.

Just did a little research on him. He's from Atlanta and is known as a good recruiter. Seems like a good fit.
Collins has been a GT assistant. I think he would be a good hire for them. His Temple team this year was tough. Temple is in the much tougher AAC East that has UCF and Cincy and USF.

It will be interesting to see how many top in-state recruits Collins can steal from Kirby. He has that program rolling right now.
