Up 6, put in a terrible lineup and sit there and not call a TO while Duke goes on a 12-0 run. Hubie is in over his head.
We don't have a single starting big on the roster. Not a UNC caliber starting big.
It has wrecked our team all year. And dook's talent advantage up front was clear tonight. Lubin and Withers can put up good numbers against bad ACC teams. But against good teams you see just how outclassed they are. Withers bricking his shots. Lubin fumbling the ball, struggling to get rebounds, and being invisible on defense. And don't get me started on Washington giving up every layup that was attempted near him tonight.
We need to spend big NIL money this offseason on bigs. Caleb Wilson simply isn't enough. We need a starting center and a primary backup big.

Their best player has 3 fouls and for 18 minutes you do NOTHING to try to get his 4th.

We ran multiple plays attacking Flagg. Did you even watch the game? How many times did we set double screens that resulted in Lubin going straight at Flagg in the 2nd half? He got multiple layups and multiple missed layups attacking Flagg. We also got Trimble downhill attacking Flagg.
Withers attacking Flagg was about the ugliest thing we saw in the second half, but that happened too.
Look dook is the same team it has always been, reliant on the 3..tonite they clanged and bounced two in in the first half then that long haired guy throws two in in the second.. he was 2of 10... this year.....they ain't winning the title. We struggled all year because we have zero inside power on offense and defense.
Agree ever teach your players to pump fake and get the defender in the air to foul you? Could have done that endless times and drawn the fourth foul on Flagg and the other guy with dreadlocks. But no we play dribble iso hero ball. Our coach is BAD and we now have him for longer smfh

Hubcaps coaching didn't help any but once again our terrible outside shooting reared it's ugly head. By the same token we took some incredibly bad shots because of this groups usual loss of focus on doing the things that got us in the game and a lead at one point. Point fingers all you want but there isn't really one single person to blame because at the end of the night this is simply not a very good team for 40 minutes.
I think many of the "bad" shots were because we could not get "good" looks. We are a limited get your shot team, dook has length and defended. Who besides RJ and Ian, can create a shot when the ball is moved for your scorer to work.
Elliot Cadeau was a major problem tonight. No threat, and was not going to create with the caliber and length of defenders he faced, knowing he was not a threat to score. With him on the floor, extra tiny alongside RJ on dee as well.
It was a damn gallant effort, we hit tough contested shots, best our "scorers" could get, cause we do not have many worry about me threats. Knocked a bunch down, contested. RJ was a DAWG !!! They were going to get better looks with our lack of size, and multiple scoring threats, and they did.
glad to see we gave him an extension LOL. nothing changed. we won 6 in a row against bottom tier teams and some of you didn’t want to see it for what it was. boys played hard today but were outmatched and out coached. pretty much the story of the season.
Oh I hear you. I said this team was 5 deep a few months ago. I’m pretty sure congress had a higher approval rating than that opinion did, lol.
If EC was a knock down shooter then he could pull it off at that height but he’s being slacked off of so he’s not getting by the defender now

We could still win the ACCT. And maybe getting to the championship game would be good enough.
But if the NIT is the best we can do, I hope we accept this time.
Truth is there are only a few players at best on this team who really deserve wearing the North Carolina jersey and that starts with the coach.
And some people on this site believes that Davis walks on water. Coach can't coach !!

If we get to the Finals easily in, since that would almost guarenteed meaning we beat dook in the semis.
Boise and SD State play an eliminator game in round 1 of the Mountain West, Xavier must win against Marquette in their 1st game in Big East. Ohio State must win 1st game against capable USC.
UNC still with a 40 NET, if they beat ND/PITT then Wake, they have a solid chance of getting in still. Gotta worry about bid stealers though winning their way in even with that scenario.

HD's coaching when we were up can always be questioned, but at that point in the game I think HD was hoping to try to steal some minutes knowing we had a battle on our hands. Not having anyone really step up offensively besides RJ was disappointing.
We simply were outsized, and we needed Dook to have an off night. HD was not the problem with X and O's. HD's problem started when he got no quality bigs on the team!
Win or go home from this point on! Keeping Drake Powell is really key. I can only image Jackson is still project early to mid first round. Will next year's team be a team that can benefit from EC's talent or is his talent a better fit on another team?
Those early season close loses really hurt us this year. Nobody can tell me that we don't at minimum win another 5 games if we had any kind of front court presence this year.
Tanner has got to work his magic with getting these guys situated with NIL, and then we can start judging HD as a coach!
Without a legit front court HD may have maxed out what anyone could do. I would like to know what the average NIL deal was for a quality big in college basketball this season?

Archer....sad but potentially true Jackson could showcase his game at the Mecca....his hometown.
The benefit of playing in the NIT, at least in modern times, was getting your younger guys reps. Programs were basically getting some time in for next year. Now that guys move schools from year to year, what's the point?
The NIT is pointless and any effort toward it would be better spent working portal or trying to retain players. It’s the Pop Tart bowl and UNC should never participate in it.
I don't care either way. I partly fear that some of their mediocre players go on a tear in the tournament and it gives fans/personnel people false hope that those guys are good enough to be counted on for significant roles next season. Probably an uber pessimistic way of looking at it, but this roster needs to be flipped upside down. That's the most important thing. Not building momentum into next season.
I don't disagree. I'm just asking in a broader sense, what good is the NIT now? I reckon small programs that never get a chance at the NCAA will still accept bids. But for P5 programs, and more specifically, highly successful programs that strive for Sweet 16s and Final 4s every year like us, will they all stop accepting NIT bids so they can go ahead and get on their evaluation and courting of portal players? And knowing that many of your current players will be leaving, what sense does it make to delay the process of setting up for next season?
I completely disagree.
I find it hard to understand how any fans would choose to have fewer games to watch.
I mean, I get your argument that we could get an early start on building the team for 2025-26. But I don't think that's a big deal under normal circumstances. Not only is it only a few days more but that assumes we have nobody who can coach and chew gum at the same time.
Moreover, with the addition of Tanner and Peterson and who knows how many more staffers, the early phase of building next year's team can surely run quite well in parallel with playing a few more games.
UNC is a basketball school. Saying we have better things to do than play more basketball is sort of like the US saying we have better things to do than defend democracy. Sure, we may have other important things to do; but not better things to do.

Three reasons:
1. We have a GM and his staff to begin "the process of setting up for next season." No delay required.
2. It's a basketball program. Its entire reason for existence (from a fan standpoint) is to play basketball.
3. It's a revenue source. Its entire reason for existence (from a commercial standpoint) is to raise money by playing basketball.
1 - OK. But I assume the program wants/needs Hubert to be a part of that process.
2 - It's entire reason for existence is to play "meaningful" basketball. If it's not meaningful, you're just putting players in a position to be hurt....for nothing.
3 - Literally no one cares. How much can the revenue possibly be?
I’m not suggesting it should be based on whether I want to have more games to watch-it should be much smarter than that. And if the choice is watch a mediocre team play two meaningless games or go harder towards fixing things that’s an easy choice. It’s much easier than understanding that having them flame out against ND on Wednesday in spectacular fashion could end up being better for the program in the long run, but there is clearly an argument for that as well.
A few days in NIL/portal land could be enormous.
