Garcia had 27 of his game high 32 in the 2nd half to upset UCLA @ Pauley Pavilion. Efficient shooting again as he averages 20 points a game this year on 50% shooting, 37 % from 3land, and 7.5 boards a game.

It’s a catch 22, how much better would this team be with Garcia, & do we even get Ingram last year if Garcia is on the roster? If Dawson Garcia stayed we never make the run we did in 2022 & likely don’t have the win in K’s last home game (& we never get to the FF game against dook). The emergence of Brady Manek was due to Garcia’s departure.

We weren't playing well with him. He played incredibly soft inside. Never once dunked wearing a UNC uniform. He quit after Manek took his starting spot. The team immediately got better and started winning more games, eventually making a run to the national championship game.

He's the epitome of empty stats. He'd rather put up big stats on a mediocre team than be part of a winning program. Look at his win/loss records.

'20-'21 Marquette: 13 wins 14 losses (8-11 Big East
'22-'23 Minnesota: 9 wins 22 losses (2-17 Big Ten)
'23-'24 Minnesota: 19 wins 15 losses (9-11 Big Ten)
'24-'25 Minnesota: 14 wins 12 losses (6-9 Big Ten)

Eh... I think if you gave Jalen Washington 15 shot attempts per game, his numbers would look good but his team clearly wouldn't be any good if he were anyone's #1 option.
So you are saying that a big man that jump shoots well would hurt this team more than help it? I would say that if Jalen were taking 15 shots a game it would be because he was making a bunch of them and because he was opposing big men would be forced to step out and defend him as a primary scoring option, opening up the paint for more guard drives. I am missing down side to that?

Dawson Garcia is Minnesota's best player and number one option.

You don't see the downside to Jalen Washington being a P5 team's best player and number one option?

The downside is he isn't good enough to be that if you're interested in winning.

I remember Garcia's time at UNC very well. Jumpshooting is about all he wanted to do. I mentioned he never once dunked in a UNC game. What I left out was just how soft he was in the paint overall. He'd have solid position in the paint and then fade away from contact, usually blowing an easy layup. Career lows in rebounding and blocked shots.

I'm glad he's playing well and he seems happy home in Minnesota. But that doesn't change anything about his time at UNC. He seems content to pad stats on bad teams. He wasn't willing to play big at UNC, and we were better after he left.

Garcia was very strong last year All- Big 10, and going to be 1st team All-Big 10 this year. Has now twice single handedly beat far superior teams in Michigan and UCLA with dominant performances , all while being a highly efficient scorer being the targeted man by every defense they face. He has been really good inside and out. 55% on 2's 37% on 3's this year. 7 boards per game each year.

I do not see Jalen being any of that "if he got 16 shots a game". That seems far fetched to the previous comment.

No miracles just a solid space eater

JWash being the backup at the 5 and JWit and Lubin at the 4….Drake being able to play the 3….

Dawson Garcia in a vacuum is a wonderful player and I was one of his biggest supporters as Carolina recruited him.
It really sucked that he came down with that
" Yeast infection " and choose to transfer.
He will forever be a P#$$y to me.

It is not a big secret that Garcia’s teammates while at Carolina did not shred one tear when he left

I have ZERO respect for Dawson Garcia, absolutely ZERO. After losing his starting spot to Manek, rather than work to deserve it he was so butt hurt that he used a sick relative as his "EXCUSE" to leave UNC. I said I was in no way hurt that Garcia left UNC and at the time I got a ton of push back for saying that. I considered him a spoiled self righteous punk then and my view has not changed. Anyone that would use a sick relative as an excuse for their own selfish purposes deserves zero respect in my book. Did he take a red shirt year to stay at home with that sick relative he was so concerned about? NO !

Just what the doctor ordered for this team.

It certainly would have allowed several players to play their more suited positions. That in itself would have been a huge game changer, IMO.

We will agree to disagree with being available while still working, but being present for very ill loved ones and the primary family care givers is legit and laudable. His families multiple issues were well documented.

It doesn't work out everywhere, that is life. I enjoy watching him and Caleb have great sucess at their second home. Both moved on and it has worked out for each.
